Those people at the hospital... that is their job to respond. They get paid.

But, I do know what you mean. When a marriage goes sour, it really sucks. You start having to do everything yourself. It's like you're single, but not legally. Near the end of my marriage, I already felt like a single mom as I always seemed to be alone with kids because he was too busy all the time. So it wasn't much of a transition for me after the divorce. Felt like he was just off at work as usual. It was more of a transition for him because suddenly he had to learn to cook, clean, do laundry and care for the kids on his weeks. But it was his decision to leave, so I couldn't care less how stressed he was about it. People don't realize how much you do for them until they no longer have you.

your husband is probably a narcissist. It is not your fault. It is classic that they will "drop" you when you are no longer useful to them, especially when you are sick/ill.

Look up narcissism, will probably fit the bill, and make you feel better about what is going on.
