I'm fed up with the way this country is going. I'm starting my own "off the grid" community. I am planning on having 6000 people live here, for FREE. The prerequisites are easy: Must be a good citizen with high standards for human behavior but is accepting of those who do not share your faith, or lifestyle (ie I'm an atheist). Will accept people of all races, backgrounds, sexual orientation, educational levels and religions WITH one huge caveat-- NO MUSLIMES. Land is provided, you build your own shelter and your own food supply. No money is accepted nor needed. Bartering is the key. Helping your neighbor when in need. Basically, going back to what the USA was founded upon. What the USA should be without all the political bull shit. More details to come. I will be posting the contact info in an email form here to find interested parties. NOT everyone will be accepted and it will be first come, first serve. 6000 people on 55 acres. You sure about that??? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 42772732 South Korea 11/04/2014 08:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There isn't enough land there to grow enough food for that many people. The climate in NW WY isn't suitable for growing food anyway, so you'll need to build many greenhouses at the very least. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 60100840 It's a noble offer, but not feasible. If the Koreans and Japanese do your prefab building design, build up and use automated vertical agricultural technology, we could comfortably get that many into half that space with room to spare, fully supported on site. The problem is that you cant build like that in America, too many hands in too many cookie jars and suitcases full of currency would be needed just to grease enough palms to get the permits. If you really want to try a free society, you have to use offshore platforms, Subterranean or the Antarctic. The technology is off the shelf and the only thing holding you back is money. Eventually there will be like minded liberty seekers living in Antarctica like the rebels on planet Hoth. Its inevitable now as the control system has made any other escape impossible. |

That's less than 400 square feet per person. That much land in WY would maybe support one family. Maybe. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27105411 Plus I think OP forgot where the hell will he find water for all of these people to drink and bathe in. Sounds to me like he would be better off if he moved to Africa and took them all with him, better chance there of finding water for that many folks. |

Retirement income, including Social Security benefits, is also tax-free. Property taxes are among the lowest in the nation. Residential real estate is taxed on less than 10 percent of a property's assessed value. |

10to10 User ID: 64315093 United States 11/04/2014 09:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I love Wyoming, and I've been out there several times. North western Wyoming depending on elevation won't support much agricultural development. Depending on water, timber, mineral rights, etc... I don't think 50 acres would support 6,000 people but more like 60 at most...but I guess that is subjective. Anyhow I'm open minded and would like to be a part of the project if things were done correctly and would like more info. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 59909649 United States 11/04/2014 09:02 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Good luck with your plan OP. I'm sure you'll figure out that you will have to adjust it as you go along. I envy your ability to purchase the land and take a step towards your dream but be fluid about your ideas and allow them to change. Most won't consider this an option when you desire to pack them in like sardines so the sooner you rework your plan the sooner you will get something off the ground. My dream is to build a community of small sustainable houses. Funny but mine is the opposite of yours. I would build each small home on an acre of land. After people build their huge houses the average Joe has no ability to make them self sufficient, not to mention pay for it. I want to show people they can have it all.....if everything is downsized. So regardless of your plan being a bit out there, hats off to you for having the guts to begin. I think you'll figure it out in the end....just not with 6000 people and probably not even 600 people. Maybe do some research on the psychology of large numbers of people being contained in a small area. Also more research on the recreation part....most states have laws governing use of land for full time, year round recreation. Good luck to you. |
