The woman is about to strike you. Be ready for it. My favorite way to deal with a woman trying to strike a punch on me, is to punch her fist when she drives it forward. She will immediately recoil in pain and cry "ow". Hardly anyone ever sees that one coming.


My second favorite way, no less painful, is to side step then catch her driving arm in a corkscrew motion, and trap the arm. Once I have her arm trapped, I drive my weight up and forward, attempting to dislocate her shoulder. You don't have to dislocate the shoulder to actually inflict pain.


Both times, I defended myself in the heat of the moment without inflicting serious injury and stopping the violence. That's the very definition of self-defense. If you stop right there, you're not assaulting anyone. You defended yourself successfully.
