I've read now from several sources that $32 is the next support level for WTI, so it might have a ways to go before stabilizing. If it drops that low that would bring it back to 2008-2009 collapse levels

You misunderstood. $32 isn't necessarily the final price it will drop to, just the next level down before it stabilizes for a while until the next "event" or news drives it down further.

I've heard final prices as low as $20
