Here in the US, half the population seems eager not to admit it happens and most of the rest fear offending such people. As a result, candid discussion, never mind research, of sex remains very much on the national backburner. Sex researchers are few in number, poorly funded, and frequently ridiculed. Quoting: Face Palmer I don't know about the rest of his blog, but I'm not gonna bother, because that is just about the dumbest statement I have ever heard about the national conversation on sex in America. We are inundated, daily, with sex on TV in all forms. It is constantly discussed in every media we have, including here, ad nauseum. I don't know about research projects' but really, what else do we need to research about sex? Everybody does it. Everybody wants to be doing it. Pretty much everybody knows how. We teach it to kindergartners in a lot of places, for God's sake. If this guy is not getting enough talk about sex in his life, he needs to turn on CNN, or the Discovery Channel, or TLC, or MTV, or VH1, or CMT, or Showtime, or HBO, or CBS, or NBC, or ABC, or Fox, or E! for three minutes, or just make one accidental click on ANY website known to man. If sex researchers are mocked or poorly funded within the scientific community, it's because they're studying something that has already been studied to death, and are probably just horny bastards looking for female test subjects to tell them lots of dirty stories. And it wouldn't be hard. I could put out a Craigslist ad and have hundreds of liberated college-age women looking to tell all their stories for "science," and it wouldn't cost me, or the taxpayers, a dime.
