Anonymous Coward User ID: 67339379 United States 01/28/2015 11:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've got a stupid question for you but I am going to ask anyway...is it AT ALL possible that what we are seeing is ONE space object making several passes across earth's path and just given a new name at each pass? The reason I ask is because of this one little bit from a 16th century prophecy by "Mother Shipton"... "A fiery dragon will cross the sky Six times before the earth shall die. Mankind will tremble and frightened be For the six heralds in this prophecy." [link to www.bibliotecapleyades.net] With all the comets we've heard talk about the last several years, this thought has crossed my mind that it is just one object with different names. But I don't trust anything NASA has to say so that is my biggest hurdle right there! |

I'm sure it just a translator gaffe, but one of the Japanese telescopes is referred to as the 'unreasonable turnip', haha. Quoting: Sol Reflector "Appearance of Finley comet that was captured by the unreasonable turnip Shi telescope of Ishigaki Island Observatory" Full report here: OOps, link now corrected. [link to translate.google.com (secure)] Solar activity has been low since Christmas-time. Very few CMEs, so I'm wondering what is triggering these cometary outbursts. Wasn't the Finlay outburst around the nights of Venus and Mercury being very close? I remember looking for it. Was Finlay visible to the naked eye? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 15876965 Their death was a bad joke, the nasa idiots knew the risk of launching at freezing temps. The astronauts were alive when the capsule hit the water. lies lies and more nasa lies.... -------------------------- Fact: The shuttle had been delayed several times because of the cold weather Eventually Ronald Reagan happened to be in S Florida-and thought it would be a "swell" photo op for a launch before or while he was giving a speech to FL Republicans. Even thought the Engineers at Morton Thiokol BEGGED NASA to delay the launch, they went ahead with Reagans request. The rest is history and it was hushed up in the media the day after; Yes the "O" Rings had shrunk and cracked due to the cold, and fuel leaked from a tank, and compromised the structure of the craft after it ignited ; sad |

I stepped out of a car once at 2 am looked up and saw my first comet, Hyakatuke. Clearly visible to anyone with eyes. Next year was Hale- Bopp, the most spectacular celestial object I've ever seen. Until there is a comet to compare with one of those you and your post are retarded. |

Even if it was a long shot, it was worth checking out at the first sign that it was in outburst again. Turns out it was only about a ~3 magnitude outburst so still extremely dim. You want to be informed about bright naked eye comets, but you don't want to be informed when there is potential for a comet to brighten? So you don't respect astronomy except when it gives you something pretty to look at by naked eye? Wow. |

I think I gave $30 bucks for it and that one comet was worth it. How did you receive this notification? Is it an email list or something? Id like to get on the list if possible. I've been imaging Comet Lovejoy lately but I have got to find a better ,higher up observing location.
