Because they probably have good reason to be it they are smart enough to make it through college with that stuff. Same for scientists, engineers and mathematicians... can't say much for anyone else.

Passive agressive. They are socially awkward people and they dont respond normally to typically social interaction. Dont take it personally. They are just scared children afraid of their shaddow. But now they have dominion over us all through computers.

I know some software engineers that are the total opposite of arrogant and even smoke weed.

worked with those types all of my career. all of them are fat, disgusting slobs that are one dimensional thinkers, poor health because they spend their entire time indoors. and you have to if you are in that type of field because software changes every 10-15 minutes. So you are constantly catching up on app notes, tech bulletins, etc. on your off time. most of them write sloppy code and then fix the sloppy shit with patches that are after-thoughts. they don't beta test their own crap because they release this bullshit unto the general public, who are in fact the beta testers. bugs in code are then repaired after errors are discovered by the end user.

What surprises me is how little they know about basic troubleshooting on their computers. Can't install a print driver? Really? Don't know how to install Adobe products? What?? How are they able to code but not know how to use software or troubleshoot hardware issues?

Most of them can't even produce decent documentation and support to back up their shitty software products!! They will refer you to bullshit help files or google

I worked on classified projects with software engineers for years. I was software configuration management. I'd run their tests to see if they worked the way they wrote them. It was a world of patches and fixes and bugs. Most of which were released to the customer and then they waited for the customer to say "gee, the plane stalled at 30,000 ft. what happened?"

Then the sw engineers would say "gee, we don't know, we'll look into that."

I swear you and I worked at the same company. Are you from NY or is this the same everywhere? ;)
