Actually the idea of implanting a missile shield into Ukraine has been publicly discussed for decades.

Lets see about this potential conflict involving us, US.

Sounds like we are boss on 2 of 4 ground war X factors. What is the 4th? Logistics. No way in hell we have any edge there. Hell, it took us months to respond after 9/11. If you think we have the logistical power to supply a large ground force in eastern Europe rather quickly, you are not well versed in military science.

At this time, we are not as big a player in the eastern European arena as we think. Well I guess we are to an extent. We have the bomb. But as far as ground action, the west could not withstand a blitzkrieg type advance by Russians in Ukraine. It's their back yard and we are thousands of miles away.

I keep reading folks comments concerning Russia just nuking us if we get involved. Folks, we are much more apt to nuke the Russian's over transgressions in Ukraine if we get involved. All it will take is one successful offensive by the Russians. The only way we can respond is to go the UN and say "stop it" (good luck) or use the only tool at our disposal to quickly neutralize such a distinct threat. A couple of W88's.

That being said, arming the Ukrainians is only just egging the Russians on. First you arm them. Then you have to put a couple of advisors on the ground to train them. Next thing you know, a couple get killed and we start mobilizing a little larger force. At that point if I were Putin, I would invade 100% before we are fully mobilized. Put the decision to end life as we know it on the shoulders of the US.

If our country is smart we won't commit any move on the board that we cant get out of. This is a chess game. Lets not put ourselves in indefensible positions while trying to put Putin in a check mate situation.

This was a push by NATO...probably prompted by Obama....but yes it did start with Bush in Ukraine.
Ukraine was too close to the former USSR block to become part of NATO.....a bridge too far.
Bush knew when to back off though....Obama seems to be looking for a war.
One more crisis for the USA....as if he hasn't created enough of them already.
