It's sad that people need to believe in something bigger than themselves

The most "functional" people(humans) on this planet are the tribes living in the forest. They respect the fauna and flora cause they understand we need to live with them, in balance with what's already there. They believe in something bigger then them, so they don't fuck up everything they see and put a dollar sign on it.

A higher spirit does not have to come from a book or a child-molesting priest, it can also come from and be planet earth, you know, the one that the modern human being is killing (y)

Some people love the Mafia, aka Vatican.

People believe that because it allows them to escape the brutal truth: they and they alone are responsible for their choices and that they can't avoid making them (not choosing is also a choice). No God to rely on, no Satan to blame for evil and misfortune and no life after death.

You clearly don't get it. I'm talking about people believing in gods, cosmic intelligence or some divine plan for us, just so that they can feel that there's purpose to their life when there's really none.

I certainly believe that nature exists, but I don't worship it, attribute intelligence or morality to it, or expect favors from it. I don't find meaning or purpose for myself in it.

You think it sad that other people want to believe in something higher than themselves, but is it not sad that you have the need to place yourself as that higher something? Because basically, that is what you are saying - you have no need of God, for you are God - you have no need of anything higher because you are the highest in your world.
