There is a little cycle every 250 years or so (from memory) - last was the little ice age - we are due that one now. Another one, every 12,000 years - it killed ALL THE GIANT MAMMALS - we are due that one now. Another one every 100,000 years - we are due that one now. And my gut feeling is there is an even bigger cycle that no one knows about, and we are due that one now also. |

It is ~3 times higher than in 2006-2007 when everyone and their neighbors were remodeling and flipping houses. Quoting: centrist77 Here is the all time chart, look at that rise after the printing presses turned on. [link to finance.yahoo.com] I am sorry but the middle class has no money and there is no way that Home Depot's stocks should be 3 times higher now than at any time in the housing boom. GTFO, this thing is the bubble of all time and stuff like this is starting to stand out. It will go soon. It's tax return season....and HD has better prices than Lowes. I think people are realizing this too. From what I hear, HD owns all their shit while Lowes' business model is based off loans (they don't own their shit so they got interest to pay, so they jack up the prices). |

Pair that with the fact that the rich keep on keeping on and you have a perfect situation for the HD. Thanks, well they kept bragging about home depot being at an all time high. So I went and looked at the data and it makes no sense. There is no way more people are dumping money into remodeling than in the housing bubble. Think, emotion drives a lot of the market. In 2007, half the shows on TV were promoting home remodeling in the real estate market. This is the byproduct of printing gone wild which has led to a huge bubble in the stock market. |

Well, like everyone else I have no money to speak of, certainly none that I'd planned to spend, but this winter has revealed that my 18-year-old roof needs to be replaced. So, I'll most likely be contributing to Home Depot's sales reports at some point in the near future! You cannot order lumber online and when you need a light bulb or a hammer you generally need them now, not in 2 days. Stores like Best Buy will completely disappear but Grocery stores / farmer's markets, and home improvement stores will remain. RAGE |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 43007915 United States 02/24/2015 11:11 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | it may have something to do with the Internet: I just tried to purchase a company-recommended fogger from Home Depot, but couldnot and the employees knew nothing of a "fogger", and started making fun of me over the $139.00 "fogger", because they knew nothing about it nor what it was. You can only purchase a fogger "on line" from Home Depot. I had it delivered to their store and it was there on the first date they gave me. Stay away from Home Depot's cashiers; they all seem to be nasty, little idiots with delusions of grandeur. Sort of like so many of Walmart’s cashiers. Stick with Home Depot‘s "Customer Service" only, as theywill do the "online" ordering for you, plus they seem to have not turned into ego maniacs . . . Yet . . . |

My step-father has been in the remodeling business for 40 years, and in this neck of the woods, everyone in remodeling is hella busy. Nobody here in the central valley is booming on new home sales, that is down. So I might kind of believe that HD's numbers are up. “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” |

So i wonder, if now that all the entrepreneurs have turned into court-sanctioned Mafia extortionists, the people are forced to do all their own repairs and remodeling. All you have to do is go on the Internet and get blow-by-blow instructions on how to make any kind of repair or re-model. The things that make this more so, is the fact that everyone is out of a job, and cannot afford to move into a new house, so must stay where they are, thus are forced to fix it up. |

Stock buy backs are the answer. I am actually in the market but on a few small tech startups that have done really well. That said, it is really just a bit of risk capital I have fun with but the overall market is a time bomb. |

Lol, my buddy from way back took a job as a risk analysis or reduction officer for them years back. Some lady was walking out with one of those huge metal carts you put the wood in. It went off the edge of the curb and flipped up and caught her on the bottom of the chin. It actually ripped her face off, like when you have plastic surgery, skeleton face shit. He had to look at pics of it and was gagging, lmao. |

You are witnessing a shift in where the jobs and money are, not an elimination. Its a generational and educational gap being worked out. Unfortunately there will be fewer people with the jobs and money for a while, but the money they earn is greater, so the "economy" doesn't reflect those who are missing from the workforce as they go extinct... |
