You need to be able to do whatever's required. Stealing from women and children, casually killing people just to thin down the numbers (competition, mouths to feed,...), torturing people for vital information, abandoning the wounded/sick/pregnant (while taking their supplies to yourself), and backstabbing your buddies and allies to grab whatever's available. Any alliances will be short-term and based on convenience, mutual distrust and fear. You need to totally harden yourself against all pleading, mercy and unselfish behavior. You need to be able to commit horrible atrocities without becoming paralysed by it. It's all about YOU - survival, greed and opportunism. We all like to believe we would never do anything like OP described, but the truth is, we really do not know what we would or wouldn't do in a shtf survival situation.. Wonderful, kind, loving people turn into animals to survive..and sometimes, the ones you think are the worst people can surprise you and shine in those situations.. You would have to live it to know what you would or wouldn't do.. You accept the love you think you deserve~~~ Love cannot live where there is no trust~~~ Truth has no temperature~~~ Love like it's never gonna hurt~~~ Have no regrets~~~ |

We all die eventually survival for survival sake is not the end all be all. You prep to take care of those you love for as long as there is hope that you will be around when things get better. You can keep your Morals in the SHTF just not your naivete. What you do in this world will determine what comes after. If you are so sure there is nothing after why go through the motions one bullet ends the struggle.
