They hold that oil can be derived from hydrocarbons that existed eons ago in massive pools deep within the earth's core. On google earth take a look at Lake Tahoe, in Nevada. If all the oil ever extracted was poured into that basin, it would fill it to about one third the water level you see today. Now zoom out. The earth is a big place. I theorized in high school that the earth is an oil planet, that we have only gained access to the deposits near the surface, and the slime does indeed perform a function in the earth's crust. It's a carbon based planet, all the life is carbon based, and the earth oozes with carbon. |
