Now that I've taken aspartame out of my diet, what is there to drink?
I have recently quit drinking all diet drinks. (I have only been drinking them for about 6 months now, thank God)

Let me tell you my testimony about aspartame. I get migraines anyways and have for the past 11 years, ever since I had my second emergency c-section. Anyways, I get them on average 3-4 times a month. But, since I started drinking diet drinks, I have been getting them more and more regular. This past month, I have been getting them at least three times A WEEK. So, after reading about aspartame and how it causes headaches, I quit drinking it. I'm happy to say, I haven't had a migraine for 5 days so far. So, I've come to the conclusion that if you are having migraines/headaches, then please quit drinking the poision.

But anyways, besides drinking water and tea, what is there to drink that is low in calories? I'm trying to shed a few pounds right now. I really enjoyed the flavored waters, but they had aspartame in them. Do you know if they make flavored waters without the aspartame?

Is not Saccarhine OK? Try Sweet N' Low in Tea.

I drink lots of water anyways. But, I enjoyed having a variety of drinks when I drank things with aspartame. (especially the fact that they didn't have any calories or carbs)

I think Sweet n Low has aspartame. I don't know about Saccarhine.

What about Splenda? I've read some articles that say that its bad and others that say its safe because its made from sugar. (kind of like the articles about aspartame) I don't know for sure.

Personally I love carbonated spring water. Here in Sweden it comes in all kinds of flavors; natural, citrus, raspberry, pear, peach, melon, what have you. The perfect choice IMO.

Just exactly why do you have to drink anything other than water?

Habit? Like you have to have something in your hand?

Are you overweight?

Unless it was by accident I've never had an aspartame drink after the first few........ never liked diet drinks. Lemon water is my favorite. Moderation in life, I believe, is always the key. I drink a soda maybe once or twice a week......... Now Alcohol..... that's my vice...... Vodka martini....... scotch and soda....... Of course wash it down with copious amounts of water....... If you can remember to. Ha Ha!

I enjoy the flavored waters also. Strawberry/kiwi is my favorite. The ones that I have been drinking have aspartame, so I can't drink them anymore. I'm not sure if they make any without it. Does yours contain aspartame?

water, once you get off the flavored drinks nothing is really refreshing anymore, not like a tall glass of cool water. if you must have a flavored beverage maybe tea or lemonaide would suffice, and as far as sweetener, are you dead set against normal sugar? (im under the impression that it is way heathier (or at least less deadly)than its replacements)
oh and the carbonated waters are supposed to be very good for you and have lots of minerals in them

natural fruit juices are your last option, although they might contain traces of pesticide.

water is also full of fluoride and other substances. not even mentioning soda and industrial juices.

there is no real "choice" if you live in the western world. all you can do is make sure that you have a metabolism strong enough to sustain the constant attack of poison.

Please don't buy Splenda, it's toxic shit and there were horrific experiments done on animals testing it.

All I ever drink is pure spring water, organic herbal teas, and diluted org. grape juice. If you are craving something sweet and fizzy, try Stevia. Stevia is an all-natural herb from South america that is much sweeter and healthier than sugar. Get the SweetLeaf Stevia Plus brand-you'll probably have to go to a natural foods store to find it. It has no calories and is packed with fiber- it's actually a termed as a dietary supplement! When I have sugar cravings I pour a packet of this stuff into some chilled water. It's really good!

You can try adding a bag of herbal tea to a bottle of water and let it steep for an hour or more, A touch of honey if you must have it sweet, but you can get used to it as is pretty easy.

No aspartame or other sweetener. It is a superb product, fresh, clean, extremely refreshing. Some brands have too much salts (sodium/potassium chloride) added for my taste, I avoid them.

I have been rather surprised during my journeys around the world to see that these flavored carbonated water products are so difficult to find.

I used to drink tons of soda. It was an extremely bad habit. Drinking all the soda finally took its toll (that along with not working) and I gained some weight that I'm now trying to shed. So, I started drinking the flavored waters, and crystal light and stuff like that. Not to mention, the diet sodas.

I've managed to lose 23lbs since May 31st, but I've got 20 more to go. I don't contribute my weight loss to the diet drinks (I'm sure the 1200 calorie diet helped out some) But, I know that if I was drinking regular soda I probably wouldn't have lost the weight. So, I'm sure the diet drinks helped some.

I'm wondering if the diet drinks may have SOME HOW hindered me from losing weight. For the past three months, I have never had such a hard time losing weight. I've been playing tennis every evening for at least 2 hours a night plus I do a once a week Taebo workout for 30 minutes. (I don't eat anything after 6pm) I honestly was beginning to wonder if I was going to lose weight. My metabolism is a pain in the butt. I was beginning to wonder if I even had one left.

So, to be honest, I'm afraid of going back to drinking things with calories and carbs in them. Like I said, weight loss does not come easy for me. I'm 38 for those of you who are wondering.

But, the problem is, I got used to grabbing me a flavored water (no calories or carbs) when I got hungry and I would be satisfied, which keeps me on the 1200 calorie diet. Not to mention, I think the sweetness satisfied my cravings for sweets. Now, I guess I need to just get used to grabbing me a Dasani. It sucks!

I'm going to have to totally reprogram my body into drinking water and tea.

I used to drink lemon juice with my water too! (years ago) I guess I need to get back to doing that.

By the way, my 11 year old son loves your avatar. You have his vote.

I found this last week at a local health food store, flavored stevia drops you could add to your water, coffee, tea, etc. All natural, no calories. Several flavors to chose from:

I'm not dead set against normal sugar, I'm just trying to not have very much. My mom is diabetic and when I put this 40lbs on it scared me into changing the way i eat/drink. So, that is when I decided to take off the weight and change the way that I eat/drink. I thought I was doing good by drinking the aspartame products. But after reading about it, thanks to GLP, I realized that aspartame is definitely not the way to go.

I am going to look for some carbonated waters that don't contain aspartame and try and drink as much plain water as I can. Some sugar is not going to kill me. It's just that in the past three months I've gotten in the habit of not having sugar and I hate to go back now. I'm afraid a little bit of sugar might lead me back to my old habits.

But, I'm the type of person that drinks my calories instead of eating them, if that makes sense. So, that is why I'm looking for more of a variety besides tea and water.

Re: Now that I've taken aspartame out of my diet, what is there to drink?
Steaz makes all natural diet sodas sweetened with stevia (stevia is 100% natural, healthy, and has no calories).

Right now they have 3 diet soda flavors: Diet Cola, Diet Black Cherry, and Diet Lemon-Lime. I buy mine at the health food store.

I think they're really good; they have a different taste, because they're made with green tea added. It's like drinking a cross between soda and tea, but in a good way. The tea flavor is more noticeable when you're drinking the diet cola, but less noticeable when you're drinking the fruit-flavored sodas, IMHO.

First of all, thanks for the link. I guess I better get used to drinking black coffee. Coffee is the only thing that I've used splenda in. (one cup a day)

No, I'm not in denial. I am just trying to stay from sugar, but obviously the alternatives are not safe. So, I guess, I will go back to having sugar in my coffee.

When will I learn? All I can say about that comment is... I'm sure it is meant in a helpful way. However, I took it as you being rude when I'm just trying to get some helpful advice here.

But hey, thanks for the link.

DreamSeeker, you are definitely on the right track. Continue to stay away from the sweetened alternatives and you are well on your way to solving your weight problem. Been there, done that.

Maybe it sounds like I drink those flavored carbonated waters all the time. The truth is I drink plain tap water mostly. It is just too bad not all people in the world are as fortunate as I am, having constant access to superb quality tap water that is dirt cheap. If not available in your area, you have to shell out for the second best.

i can't believe how people don't like to drink water. it is utterly rediculous. Here is a site for water purifiers [link to www.pleasanthillgrain.com]

drink water, juice every now and then beer/wine/spirits every once in a while.
 Quoting: aaron_capricorn

I don't think its the fact that people don't like to drink water as it is the fact that they are just used to drinking other things besides water.

I think its one of those things like, water is free, so I better have something that cost money. LOL

My beer and wine days have been over for quite some time now.

So, how are you liking your water purifier that you bought? Is this the one?

I normally just buy distilled water for my 5gallon water container. I drink Dasani when I buy the bottled water. But, I could use a good water purifier for my well water.
