The philly news is reporting that on another train like 5 mins away, the engineer on that train was hit from "flying debris" that is though to have come from an over pass.

If its not degrading infrastructure, its bored kids and rocks.

bored kids tend to toss stuff off of bridges.... I know from experience: dented my car.

I was directing wide loads in florida yesterday, the driver said he scraped some train tracks with his load! I believe this same correlation relates to this story!!

Well they said that what they were going to do would put fear in Americans.. Even though this train crash was horrible and my prayers are with all the victims but this would not put a lot of fear in America..

There is also chatter about an attack in Philadelphia in September, when the Pope is visiting.

Not a terrorist action. I have taken the local train frequently, the area of Frankford Junction is the exact same area that another Penn Central train derailed way back in the 40s. The tracks are a curve, they are not in good shape. The area is full of abandoned factories, graffiti, and general empty buildings. It was simply too old and I think the engineer was driving too fast.

I've always wondered how easy it would be to derail a train.

Seems like all you'd have to do is put some metal object(s) on the track, something thin enough the front part of the locomotive couldn't push it off the track, but thick enough/strong enough that it would cause the wheel to rise up off the track ...

I remember years ago reading about a guy arrested for putting something on train tracks that caused one to derail. With many many miles of tracks that can't possibly be guarded it seems like the railways would be a great target for ISIS.

This happened in 1982 in NJ. Some kids were playing with a "switch" and switched a commuter train into a Macaroni factory.

The news story I'm thinking of took place in the late 90s, and involved a guy putting heavy metal objects on the tracks to derail the train.

Bodies and six of the train’s cars lay scattered across the busy residential area of Frankfort Junction. “The train was just thrown all over the tracks,” a railroad official said at the time. On the train were about 200 servicemen, many of whom aided in the rescue efforts, but the toll was massive. Seventy-nine passengers from two of the train’s 16 cars were killed, and 117 more were injured.

. Were several miles from the train derailment in Philadelphia . However I grew up just blocks away , and if u know the area u know the curve . I saw someone here post that another train was hit with a flying something all ten minutes apart . The first train on the same tracks was a s e p t a train, they had everyone get off at the next big hub to investigate that . Then 10 minutes later the am track headed to new York due railed' . Folks I saw the one train, it looks like someone squashed it then twisted it 3 times . Also someone here wrote , train error at the 55 mile curve . As the am track trains go up to 130mph . They just had a crane pull up one of the sideways trains and found two body's under that train . U can see this even on the news , but if your their, just a bit away , piles of old wood from the tracks, piles of everything . The police plus some is all over the place . But on a other day, u can walk rite on the tracks , rite thru many many holes in the fence or if their even is a fence their . Oh also someone here on g l p wrote their is a bridge their, literily directly above the tracks. Homeland security are here plus, ( NTSB) and every other agency. Yes a crash happened back in the 30s. SEPTA was hit by flying debris. SEPTA was moving in the opposite direction as the AmT, and about 2 mins in front of AmT.. I heard that on TV early this AM, like 5AM.

#2 must have flipped what, 6 times from the looks of it.

That bridge, it could have been hoodrats throwing stuff.. but the derailment, either AmT was flying way faster than usual (it's usually like 50mph in the curve) or some shit ain't right.

Where did the flying debri come from and what made it fly into the train I think its a conspiracy

septa is conducting s investigation still on the flying debris. The odd part, 10 minutes apart but on the same tracks. And the guy or girl ( just being poloticly correct , as I was wrong in the past. But yes someone could have tossed anything on the tracks . It just seems , no matter what or where , one just is not safe anymore . And that's just sad, I worry at night often thinking how things will be for my grandchildren. Will their be schools , churches , jobs ect. If some local news , or if I best any scuttlebutt, ( talk) . I'll put out a post , as not everyone is accounted for, yet, one guy said the only thing he rembers . Is sitting on the amtr. Seat , then just sitting in the dirt outside the train . Man really that's heavy..
