Police finding ‘astronomical’ amounts of date-rape drug in Edmonton

EDMONTON – This year, Edmonton police have encountered more GHB – commonly known as the “date-rape drug” – in our city than ever.

So far, police have seized 206 litres of it, an amount Det. Guy Pilon of the EPS’ EDGE Unit said is “astronomical” compared to other years.
“The drug’s being dropped in people’s drinks at nightclubs, that sort of thing,” said Knecht.

But police say GHB is also being used for recreational purposes more than before.

“We’re seeing it on the streets, we’re seeing it at rave events,” said Pilon. “Five years ago, you wouldn’t see GHB on the street.”

The drug, which is used as an anaesthetic in a medical setting, seems to be especially popular with 18 to 25-year-olds.

GHB can cause short-term amnesia, loss of consciousness, as well as death.

The problem with rape and so called date rape is not in reality, it's in women's' heads. That will piss some bitches off, but it's the truth. Humble yourself for a moment and be educated.

It is a phrase used to magnify and legitimize the princess mentality. But the princess mentality is a crime in its own right. And if a woman makes a stupid choice then she alone is responsible for that choice. Don't take drugs and black out with a group of guys at 4 in the morning. I did not say pass out, I said black out. Huge difference. Blacked out means you are still walking and talking. You just don't remember it. You are responsible for your own actions if you are blacked out. If you black out and let six guys run a train on you, IT IS YOUR FAULT. No matter how much you hate yourself the next day it is still your fault. I've seen this show a thousand times in college. It's almost always the woman's fault.
