Did God set humans up for failure...as if implanting a virus in humans,..or dignify humans with free will in hopes they would use it correctly?

"Now the serpent proved to be the most cautious of all the wild beasts of the field that Jehovah God had made. So it began to say to the woman: “Is it really so that God said YOU must not eat from every tree of the garden?” 2 At this the woman said to the serpent: “Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat. 3 But as for [eating] of the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘YOU must not eat from it, no, YOU must not touch it that YOU do not die.’” 4 At this the serpent said to the woman: “YOU positively will not die. 5 For God knows that in the very day of YOUR eating from it YOUR eyes are bound to be opened and YOU are bound to be like God, KNOWING good and bad.”- Genesis 3:1-5

Okay......crafty......that works to

' Put on the complete suit of armor from God that YOU may be able to stand firm against the machinations of the Devil; 12 because we have a wrestling, not against blood and flesh, but against the governments, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the wicked spirit forces in the heavenly places."- Ephesians 6:11,12

"Machinations" means "crafty acts".....

I don't really believe in free will because there's so many of us. I know this is really going to sound crazy but I think the only way to have real free will is if you lived in a world by yourself. You can come and go as you please. Do the things you want and refuse to do the things you don't want to do. You're by yourself so you don't have to worry about toxic people being around you and those same people putting out toxic traps for you to walk into.

I hope I don't lose people by using a fictional tv series as my example that ties into what I'm saying. Do you remember the Twilight Zone episode with Burgess Meredith called "Time Enough at Last"? He had to deal with all these awful people in his life* and the only thing that really brought him any joy was reading books. And even that got pissed on by the toxic people that surrounded him. The accident happens that wipes out everything except for him, he's walking around alone and ready to shoot himself until he spots the destroyed library and sees all the books he will finally have the free will and time to enjoy. And I'm sure everybody else knows the ending to that episode--his glasses break. Very cruel ending but a wise one nonetheless. Some people just can't win.

*I know people might point out that's a loophole where he could've exercised his free will. You hate your job? Leave it. Hate your spouse? Leave your spouse. But we live in a very complicated world with a lot of people that are assholes. You might be jumping from frying pan to frying pan.

The works+grace/free will dogma is NOT compatible with an omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent God. The free will doctrine is not biblical, emasculates God, and glorifies man. The bible teaches election/predestination; where God did all the work of salvation before the foundation of the world.

Ephesians 1:4-6 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

Romans 9:11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)

Jeremiah 10:23 O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.
2 Corinthians 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

Interesting addition to this thread...thank you....

I missed that Twilight episode but will U tube it....

I think the moral to your story is that there is No ideal situation in this world right now...

And you are right about "toxic people" ......

Toxic environment.....it is poison.........

Still....we do have the freedom to make good choices...which is a healthy use of free will despite the toxic things others do, say, think, feel and do to others

There is a certain power in the proper use of free will, as we show that despite the toxic attitude of others, we have the power to be different....hence, despite the fact that there is no ideal situation with ANYONE.....we still do not have to be a slave to others attitudes and actionshfhf
