windows 10 upgrade trying to install on my computer without consent:how to stop it?
poked around on internet
said to go to control panel
then to windows update
then to either stop updates altogether or put on manual update

next
go to control panel
programs and features
installed updates
find kb3035583
uninstall it

one guy says to use manual update
and then when you reboot check the same update file # as above
and then hide it

but i am scared shitless of windows 10 reading the reviews
so i am stopping updates for now

is this a bad idea, i guess i will miss security updates

but windows might try to upgrade to 10 under another file number

isn't there like a year of it being a free upgrade to decide on it?

people are already screaming that it sucks borg gates united nations plague mosquito dick

If you just want to remove the tray icon until the next restart you can terminate the GWX.exe process using Task Manager.

To get rid of the icon permanently uninstall KB3035583 which is responsible for these notifications. When you're offered the same again via Windows Update remember to hide it.

Note that even after uninstallation and a reboot some users might see remnants of the update's files in Windows\System32\GWX. In that case just delete the directory, although you may need to take ownership of it before you'll be allowed to do so.

Just install it and the go back to your previous windows version. It's possible by doing: settings/updates and security/ (here's the option to return to previous windows version).

Or something like that.............

Re: windows 10 upgrade trying to install on my computer without consent:how to stop it?
who knows if...hidden in the code is something that will install a backdoor or something into your firmware or bios that basically hides there even if you go so far as to re-format your drive, because it's now on your chips?damned

I'd suggest to first take out the screws and open up your case... then, remove anything that might be in the way of accessing your processor(s) [fans, heat-sink, etc]. After you have uncovered the processor, lay the case on the floor with the open side up and then proceed to pee on it.
