IN THE LAST few week Greece seems to have slipped out of the headlines.

After the drama of the referendum on the country’s bailout terms last month, there has followed a period of relative calm.

The last major move was the backing of difficult economic measures by Greek MPs on 16 July, provisionally accepting a raft of new austerity measures in return for an €86 billion bailout deal from its creditors.

The deal was opposed by around a quarter of prime minister Alexis Tsipras’s Syriza party but backed by an overall majority of Greek MPs in Hellenic Parliament.

Despite this approval, the country is not out of the woods yet.

What is happening now?

While the deal has been provisionally agreed, negotiations on it are still ongoing, and in theory things could still fall apart.

The next big looming deadline is 20 August, when the country will be required to repay the European Central Bank €3.5 billion.

Greece is closer to unlocking a fresh €86bn (£61bn) rescue package after the country's creditors reportedly agreed on a draft deal this weekend.

German and Greek media said 27-pages of "substantial" and "far-reaching" reforms had been agreed following marathon talks between Euclid Tsakalotos, Greece's finance minister, and the country's creditors on Saturday.

The six hour meeting, which ended in the early hours of Sunday morning, will see the country slash defence spending and subsidies for farmers as part of a fresh package of austerity measures, according to German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung.

Mr Tsakalotos and Giorgos Stathakis, Greece's economy minister, will meet creditor representives again on Sunday to iron out details on fiscal targets and a €50bn privatisation fund.

Chinese leaders appear determined to reverse the market declines. Some of their measures have been extreme and sweeping: a massive share-purchase programme by the government, prohibiting sell-offs by major shareholders, banning new Initial Public Offerings, suspending trading of many shares, investigations into short-selling “with a malicious intent,” and dispatching a public security official to examine trading records.

The current mess is entirely due to the active encouragement by the authorities to invest in the markets and to lax regulations. Editorials in People’s Daily, the mouthpiece of the Chinese Communist Party, talked up the market, and regulatory authorities tacitly permitted the dangerous practice of margin trading.

The fundamentals for the market surge were noticeable only in their absence. GDP slowed substantially during this time, and many companies reported deteriorating earnings. The economy’s overcapacity worsened, and Europe, an important trading partner with China, was mired in a recession.

Yet the stock markets surged. This was not irrational exuberance; it was exuberant irrationality.

People outside the small band of policy elite do not know why these leaders chose this course, but there is a long obsession among Chinese officials for impressive GDP numbers. Maybe the statistical hawks gained the upper hand in arguing that anything short of miracle growth would be a disaster for the leadership.

there isn't gonna be any doom pal. there is none intended other than fear mongering. things are getting better not worst. remember all the hype and b/s around the mayan crap of 21 december 2012? the billions spent on movies; books; tv shows; etc... etc... it was all in the name of bullshit, lies, fear mongering and was a huge money spinner for those greedy leeches, who prayed on the vulnerable and weak, the majority, and made millions from all that shit. i wonder what doom failure crap is being planned next?

Yeah really. I'm not putting down any of the legitimate doom we have going on. Just saying that too much doom will drive us insane and worse. Besides, when we're having to fend for ourselves and each other during overt Martial Law, we'll be looking onto these last "peaceful" days. Let's not spoil them with frantic searching for answers that'll come to us sooner or later. And that's even with diligent research.

Just because the msm is not covering it today does not mean anything. It takes a whole lot to bring everything worldwide to a complete doom level. That whole lot is adding up daily.

Jade Helm was simply a training exercise that AJ went crazy over and it leaked into GLP.

Jade Helm had a different name and has been going on on the east coast for 10+ years. Why it scared everyone when they simply moved it from NC to TX, I have no idea. Retards maybe?

I think Jade Helm was preps for Europe.

Jade Helm is simply training exercise to teach Police how to deal with tactical situations with Special Operators.

So we've been prepping for 10+ years for this European thing that wasn't on ANYONE's table until a few years ago.

So people will believe ANYTHING that Fatman says.

Houston has had the most refugees of any other US city for YEARS.

There is a nice little Iraqi community halfway between Houston and Austin that has been there since 03.

If any place in the US is going to take refugees, it's like a 70% chance of them going to TX, jade helm or no.
