Australia - how's that gun control working?
Subject: Guns

Australian Gun Law Update;
Here's a thought to warm some of your hearts....
From: Ed Chenel, A police officer in Australia
Hi Yanks, I thought you all would like to see the real
figures from Down Under. It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by a new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by our own
government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars.

The first year results are now in:
Australia-wide, homicides are up 6.2 percent,
Australia-wide, assaults are up 9.6 percent;
Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!
In the state of Victoria .....alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent.(Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not and criminals still possess their guns!)
While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady
decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since the criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed. There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the elderly, while the resident is at home.

Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in 'successfully ridding Australian society of guns....'

You won't see this on the American evening news or hear your governor or members of the State Assembly disseminating this information.

The Australian experience speaks for itself. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws affect only the law-abiding citizens.
Take note Americans, before it's too late!

And a Muslim took hostages in a chocolate shop with a
bunch of knives
Tickles me how some think that "gun control"
is about controlling "crime".
Its actually about controlling CITZENS.
politicians don't give a rats ass about "gun violence",
at least as long as its not directed against them.
if you are disarmed you are a "subject", simple as that.
AND when the elites flood the country with illegals,
raise the tax rate to 99%, confiscate your home and put everybody in camps, what are you gonna do?
Without a gun you can't even make a symbolic stand.
AND that's what "gun control " is really all about.
You can ignore the consequences of
your actions, but you cannot ignore
the RESULTS of the consequences of your actions

Re: Australia - how's that gun control working?
Yes this a feeble attempt to promote firearm ownership. The story is at least 11 years old and based on dubious statistics. Percentage only stats are always suspect because the parameters of their origins are unclear. I dropped my toast this morning. I have never done this before, therefore, there has been a one hundred percent increase in incidences of dropped toast, but ONLY if I am the sole provider of this particular statistic!

"Confiscate your home and put everyone in camps"?
Firstly......Please understand that this kind of insane paranoia is almost exclusive to Americans.
Secondly.....Do you not think your government would have put y'all in "camps" by now if that was their intention?

In the UK a tiny number of individuals have owned a gun over the past 100 years or so. Have our homes been confiscated? No. Are we all in camps? No. The British government could have taken absolute control by force at ANY time, but haven't. It's a similar situation in the USA. The likelihood of governmental dictatorship is zero. Why can't American pro gunners be honest? The real reason they don't want firearm legislation is because they LOVE guns. The way that teenagers love their phones, the way that petrol heads love their cars. The "We need to protect ourselves from the government only really believed by the handful of whacks with a bunker full of canned beans.

Not enough cops and soldiers to counter the criminals. We need a well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State....

If you can disarm the bad guys, and then disarm the government, I will gladly toss my firearms into the incinerator on public TV. After the previous 2 are disarmed, then I really have no need for the amount of protection that these 2 make me have.

Even if the real criminals turned them in, the weak, the crippled, the women, the elderly all need some way to equalize hulking thugs that can break your bones or strangle you with their bare hands.
God didn't make Man equal, Col. Colt did!
