I just found out there's a good chance I have Ashkenazi Jew roots...now that's a pedigree with a lot of health issues! I'm sure I'll be fine though! |

Ma Pantha User ID: 70468394 Australia 10/07/2015 03:12 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The best place to see inbreeding is Tasmania, Australia, and I say that with my hand on my heart, because I love Australia. Quoting: Ma Pantha I have hitch-hiked in Tasmania and that was THE scariest ride! Do tell! It was in 1990 and I was taking my German hubbie around Australia to see which state we would like to settle in (ended up in WA). I had hitch-hiked by myself in NZ in the 1980s and didn't have a problem with it. However, on this trip, it was 2 brothers (in the front seat and driver's seat) and we were in the back of the car. They were lumberjacks from memory. We were heading around past Queenstown to get to Strahan on the beautiful west coast. The driving skill or lack of had my pulse racing on the steep bends and inclines. My husband being German couldn't understand their accent and their meaning, but neither could I! I was just very glad to get out of that car, I recall. But to put this in perspective, though we didn't know it at the time, we just missed out on meeting Ivan Milat in January 1990 on the notorious stretch of road out of Sydney that runs past the Belanglo forest in NSW. Husband being stingy was insisting on hitch-hiking, but Sydney was my town and I won out that time, and we took the bus to Canberra before we started hitch-hiking in earnest. We did hitch all the way to WA and back from there, and did a circuit of Tasmania. I have never hitch-hiked since that trip, by the way, and Ivan Milat now rots in jail - thank goodness. ___________________ Formerly Ma Pantha |
