The problem is that society is always going to march forward, and the way that's done is by getting rid of social injustices.

We have already gotten rid of the big ones. Race, gender, handicaps. Those affected large percentages of the population.

Now we are working on the gay one. As it goes on, we are going to start having to fix injustices that affect smaller and smaller percentages of society.

We can't just say as a society "We have solved all injustices". I mean we could, but our mindset wont allow it.

It's like companies that say they want a 10% reduction in cost every year. At first, it's a big amount of savings and everyone gives high fives. But after 5 or 6 years that 10% becomes very small AND very hard to find.

What other "persecuted" group is there in society? The gays are pretty much taken care of at this point. Society has to march forward.

I've seen the effects that pedophiles have on children.

A girl at my school committed suicide at age 14, after years of being raped by her father.

This is nothing that any sane person with a decent moral code can support.

Anyone that has these desires should be physically made incapable of acting upon them, it should and would be a requirement of law in a normal world.

Their sympathizers will claim it's all about human rights and equality, but as far as I am concerned, your rights should end at the point where they can and will be used to cause harm, especially to an innocent child.

In an ideal world, children should not even have knowledge of sexual matters until they are mentally able to deal with it in a mature way, and they should definitely not have it forced upon them by way of rape or coercion, or any other method of sexualisation pushed at them through media.

Just a few months ago one of the major papers here included the sentence

that the pedophile watching online child pornography was not "abusing in the real world"

You're absolutely right. The thing is I've been in prison before and the harrowing truth is that NOT ALL PEDOS DIE IN PRISON. From what a lot of the guards told me when this discussion would come up they wind up in protective custody especially if they are wealthy. Namely it's the dirt poor, unrepresented / without legal counsel pedos who get the true justice that's deserved. Also having gone through a slew of re-entry/rehabilitative programs for my drug related offense I've been fortunate to see the full spectrum of recovery as well as those who fall by the wayside (which is a great many). Those who wind up becoming hardened and fully institutionalized are more likely to commit pedophilic and otherwise abusive acts to children because their moral compass has been completely deteriorated due to long-term prison sentences in general population. In a just society we would gouge out the eyes, cut off the hands, rip out the tongue and chop off or burn the genitals of anyone convicted of raping or molesting a child. Why leave it up to the prisoners to do it?

I'm curious as to where the line should be drawn?
I'm not talking about sex,but the mere act of finding a younger person attractive.

I mean anyone who finds prepubescent children appealing, obviously has some serious issues.But at the same time the modern mentality of 'If you are an adult you can't think someone is attractive;until they turn 18 or you're a pervert',isn't realistic either.

This makes me sick.. I have 2 little boys.. I cant imagine how anyone could ever see a child in a sexual way. The way they are defending pedos now and trying to make it normal is beyond infuriating to me.
