After 7 years of service, an NYPD K-9 was dropped off at a shelter and is to be thanked by being euthanized before Christmas

Doesn't seem like puppy mills, mutts or breeders have ANYTHING to do with the moronic person who dropped him off. Police dogs do NOT come from puppy mills, usually Germany, and are high dollar dogs. Here's a happy update however:

Former police dog dumped at NYC shelter reunited with original owner

A former K9 corrections officer dog, who had been surrendered to New York City's Animal Care and Control last week, has been reunited with his original owner and handler. The National Pet Rescue Examiner received information from the original owner's daughter, that Buster, the nine-year-old trained German shepherd had been entrusted to someone who had promised to care for the dog.

Yeah really, OP. Dogs are really some of the most special animal friends someone can have. Hell, befriending just about any other animal on Earth has unique benefits such as feeling closer to Nature. It's so sad for you, first AC, who believes a dog is a "damn dog". From that attitude, it's easy to see that most likely you like or love to enslave animals for your own pleasures...

Puppy mills help contribute, yes...not responsible breeders, as they usually take dogs back and screen individuals to begin with. However, you're right that it's falling on the MORONS that buy the dogs in the first place that decide no longer to keep the poor animal. In this case, it was the idiot who got the dog from a K9 handler that is at fault. The dog most likely originally came from Germany as that's usually where the police force obtains dogs from.
