You do realize that you are stealing from the poor when you raid the goodwill dumpsters don't you?

Some days you can't win.

If I were to buy new from the likes of Target, Kohls, or Macy's I'd be materialistic. But, because I buy second hand I'm stealing from the poor. Gotcha.

Buying from Goodwill is not stealing from the poor. All the money that Goodwill receives from retail sales is filtered
back into services for the poor. The Goodwill people love all
of us collectors who buy crazy stuff for our collections. I
am a firm believer in reusing and recycling and Goodwill is
one of my favorite places. It's a misconception that buying
there is "stealing" from the poor.

interesting find.
I recently gave an old white pyrex mixing bowl my mother got used back in the 40's or 50's to my daughter in law. She has her grand mother's mixer which has a smaller bowl so I thought it's go nice with what she has and my Mothers mixer is long gone.
Well, she just about had a melt down over the bowl. She apparently knew a LOT about old pyrex stuff. I didn't really "get it" but your post has helped, a lot.

Awwww. The old pyrex has a lot of fond memories attached to it for a lot of people apparently. Our Moms and Grandmothers had it. It's a workhorse in the kitchen. One of my co-workers has a large mixing bowl. She dropped it on her granite kitchen counter...guess what chipped? Not the bowl! They last forever it seems!

Mr. Wonderful and I hopped around to 3 Goodwill establishments today. I always look for vintage household items (50s-70s), and I'm particularly fond of vintage Pyrex.

I spy this measuring cup. Look for a marking, and yup Pyrex. I'm thinking since it's a double 'lip' or pour spout jobber that it could be part of their lab-ware line.

WELL. An online group I belong to that collects vintage about shit their pants. It's the first ever manufactured measuring cup by Pyrex and they only manufactured it for one year. 1925. I have a 90 year old measuring cup in pristine condition! No one can find any sales online for it or any reference save for the links I'll post below.

Trying to upload a pic I took, but Tinypic is giving me issues.

I was given the only links that could be found about it by someone in my group. But, if they're considered blogs here, those links may not come through.

This one time at goodwill, I bought an ALF plush from the 80's in perfect condition, MJ's thriller album, and a bag of basketball and baseball cards from the 50's & 60's.

I'm surprised you found vintage baseball cards there. GW has gotten quite hep to what's worth what there these days. You can't find any of the pyrex I'd really like to run across there because they put it up on eBay for sale. :/

HA! See? I've taken to calling Mr. Wonderful "The LL Bean Whisperer" because he will come out with new or nearly new LL Bean shirts, shoes, jeans, jeans with flannel lining and winter coats, EVERY TIME WE GO! And if you don't know, LL Bean items have a life time warranty. That's what thrills him. That and VHS tapes. :)

Better look into GW and there practices. Total scam. The owner takes advantage of the poor. He has everyone give him his products. Hires poor and handicapped to work for minimum wage while he pockets millions. A very small percentage goes to help any poor!!
