Hey OP. I have a teen in Hillsborough County. We would get sealed copies of the height/weight "checks" once a year in middle school. I don't remember them in elementary. My child was always 95%+ height, <50% weight; long and lanky from birth. He was always borderline underweight (low BMI) but was a competitive athlete. Our paper recommended we consult our family doctor and they may have verified annual physicals were up to date. (Can't remember for sure).

Assuming you live in Florida from your username, this appears to be statewide. :(

Calm down everybody. Here's what's REALLY going on.

One of the teacher's kids is graduating college with a teaching degree.

There are currently no job openings.

Someone is hoping OP's wife will EXIT or be caused to EXIT by her actions, THUS, creating a job opening.

That's all it is - so OP, rip up the paper and figure out which parent wants your job for their kid.

I'm in CA. Both my kids were born in the 98% percentile! Son is now 10 years old, wears a mens M, mens size 10 shoe and is 5'1, weighs 140 lbs. The kid is SOLID as a rock and growing taller by the second. His pediatrician isn't worried about his weight or size because he is getting taller.

I've never received a letter like that and if I did I wouldn't respond to it. LOL, i'm one of "those" parents who doesn't vaccinate or provide information like that. The department of health has NO right to information like that. They probably are doing a survey to see what body weight is now for school aged children. I would say IMHO you are not required to provide any information to them. Sometimes the county will do random population sampling for studies but it is voluntary and a lot of people don't know they do NOT have to participate. Your daughters weight is personal information. I would NOT share it if it were me but then again I almost always go against the grain.

Now speaking as a mom and RN, your daughters height and weight shouldn't be a concern if she is healthy. She is a growing girl and her weight will fluctuate. 105lbs at 4'7 is not too bad. She is still growing and she will lose it. Last year my son's pedi worried about Diabetes as he hadn't grown more than an inch that year and his weight was 136. This year at his annual physical they weighed him and measured him 4 times using 2 different measuring devices and measured me and the doctor to ensure they were right because he grew 4.5" in one year. The doctor was blown away and said given his growth this year, his shoe size and his weight gain of only 6 pounds that he is just going to be tall and built solid. Personally I wouldn't sweat it and don't make it a big deal in front of your daughter. The age your daughter and my son are fragile for self esteem. If your daughter feels there is a problem with her weight it could potentiate an eating disorder. My son every once in awhile gets upset about his weight because his doctor put emphasis on it last year and I have to remind him, my dad and all my aunts/uncles on his side are over 6'4 and my son's father was 6'1. He's gonna be a tall man and we still have 8 more years of growing ahead of us.

Personally i'd trash the note and forget about it.

Good luck OP

Thank you very much! We are in Florida. Never in my wife's 17years of teaching has she seen them do this. I'm sure it comes down from Manchelle.
We unfortunately didn't wake up to the dangers of vaccines until 6years ago. She won't be getting anymore. On her birthday her Pedatrician's Nurse offered us the chance to give her the HPV vaccine at 9. When I said No Way the nurse acted dumbfounded. Said she just got it for both of her young daughters. I referred her to a couple websites and of course she looked at me like I had 3 heads. Ubfortunately her ignorance may effect her daughter's health.

Good call on refusing the Guardasil. It's one of the WORST. My kids pedi was totally pro vaccine and pushed me for awhile but I refused. My story is long and I don't want to derail the thread but I posted it more in another thread here recently about the TDap vaccine. My kids pedi now no longer endorses that I vaccinate my kids. We have 10 years together so she knows me well and the fact she told me she advises against it (had the discussion cause laws changed here in CA to make declining vaccines illegal and force expulsion from school, private and public) anyway, for her to tell me NOT to do it was a huge red flag for me that she is starting to wake up and realize the real evils in them!

Back to the matter of the letter, i'd keep as much info private about your daughter as you can. The health dept has no right to her info unless she has a communicable disease and poses a threat to society. I personally think it's really probably a survey to gauge where adolescents are now. My kids are both in private school and we've never had anything like that and if we did I wouldn't respond :)

Ultimately you have to do what is right for you and your family. I can't imagine your wifes career being in danger over a letter form the health department. It's very possible the health department is investigating consequences for vaccines such as guardisil also. The possibilities are endless in my opinion. You always can call the health department and ask wTH is happening and why they sent it to you.

Good luck friend :)

Hey OP, I won't get into the finer points of hidden contracts here.....only to say that "The Matrix" operates with your consent.

In this instance, take the health questionnaire & trash it....because legally speaking, there's no proof their document ended up in your hands --> no certified mail, no process server, nothing to create a paper trail of custody.

NO NEED TO VOLUNTEER

....and any phone calls you're not expecting from unfamiliar numbers --> DON'T even answer to 'The Name'....just say "Sorry, nobody here by that name".

I loved your post and I have to say I agree with you. I'm not sure if anyone will read my updated post or not but I just hung up with our attorney and he was dumbfounded as well. His first suggestion was to crumble it up and throw away. After we discussed it for a while and thought about it he made a great suggestion for us to simply fill it out on our own, as they did not specifically say that the section marked medical provider needed to be filled out by a doctor. That is if we felt the need to have to send it in. I'm more inclined to just throw it away.
I'm kind of tempted to return it and fill out all the perfect weight and height measurements but they want just to make them see how stupid it is .

I am not a lawyer, but I would not fill it in at all. Just toss it in recycling and be done with it. They most likely had to send it home because of some federal grant money, and dont care about the result.

If you return it they have proof you actually got it, and it puts you on the radar so to speak as a troublemaker...

Just my thoughts.

Thanks for your post, you're probably right! I think we'll end up pitching it, as tgey can't prove we ever got it to begin with.
