Re: stop drinking alcohol now!!
Im still figuring it out. I have drank maybe 5 times in the last year, usually just for holidays and Friends B-days. Everytime I have more than 4 beers and some whiskey I am so sick the next day. The last time was about 2 weeks ago and I couldnt keep water down the next day until around 6pm that night. I think that was my final hoorah.

I used to love beer. Good beer.

Good Scotch too.

After I was water baptized, I found that my interest in both just slowly ebbed away. I don't miss it, and I have no desire for it.

If someone offered me a pint of Guinness, depending on circumstances, I would probably drink it and be satisfied, and then go months before ever touching it again.

No big deal, just that I am impressed with how this more or less eliminated from my life, not by my effort. Nothing I did or attempted to do.

Accepting Christ opens the door to healing: spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

I find that the barrier to many that stands between them and accepting Christ is that they fear the conviction of sin. "I am not a sinner" - a defence mechanism of pride. Pride is a tool of the enemy.

I am a sinner, meaning I fall short. Admitting that, realizing that Christ was the manifestation of God, who promised to tabernacle among us, for the purpose of giving us a way back home.

Accepting our shortcomings, and agreeing to walk through the door opened to us, allows the Holy Spirit to begin to work on our vessels in the here and now.

I am a work in progress, and glad of it. I saw the opportunity, understood it, admitted in truth to myself that I fell short, and I have been receiving blessings ever since. Moreover, I truly feel good when I can bless someone else who is in need. Turns out, the more I give, the more I receive.

Accept Christ, and your foot will be taken out of the snare, whatever it may be. It is a promise, and I can tell you it has happened to me, and I stand on that promise.

Re: stop drinking alcohol now!!
Drinking alcohol has destroyed my looks. I used to be beautiful and sadly have put on weight from it. I used to drink every night and now have it down to once - twice a week. I'm trying to give it up totally.

Everywhere I look, tv, reading books etc. Someone is drinking wine or having a beer. My goal is to give it up completely and drop the weight fully. How did you do it OP?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71441787

I hope that you can give it up fully. Don't beat yourself up too much. Lord Jesus will still love you even if you can't give it up completely. That is why you have the freedom to put it down. God can help you. Often He is the only help that we have. I Praise Heavenly Father and Lord Jesus and Lord Holy Spirit.

You are doing really well to cut back. Keep cutting back. It helps your body be able to deal with the loss of the alcohol. It is a real addiction. I am lucky, dear, because my parents didn't drink, but my grandfather was a real bad alcoholic. I got to see first hand what it does to people. I don't look at alcohol and see it as a refreshing drink or an escape. I look at it and I see Stephen M and him telling me that he had years of his life that he couldn't remember because he was in black outs. I remember him after he got arrested for that DUI and sent to Cedar to dry out and after he got saved. I remember him telling me how happy he was to be saved and I remember him sober.

You can do this, dear. When we are addicts, we have to stop allowing ourselves to partake-cigarettes were my addiction, but I quit. We can't have any because we have any and we are right back on the train again. You need to continue cutting back. You are doing real well. The other part of it is to see how the alcohol or cigarettes in my case-how they are not your friend. They are hurting your body and your mind. They are slowly killing you. You have to start seeing that they aren't your friend and you have to get angry with them and not want to play their game anymore. That gives you the energy to fight for your life and break the addiction. It's hard and it doesn't sound like you are quite there yet, though you are certainly on your way.

Then, we stop doing it and we hate it so much that we never want to be ensnared by it again. We don't want to be trapped by the demon again and we disdain that stuff for the rest of our lives.

That's how you stop doing it. But, you have to be there with your thinking processes. A lot of the time, people don't get there until a lot of damage has been done to their bodies and they have real regrets. That's the snare portion of this program.

Then, you must never take another drink. You have to not allow yourself to do it ever again. This is how you protect yourself. You stay away from people who do it and you never go to places where people are doing it and you drink soda or coffee, but you never imbibe again. It is hard as hell, but once you get there in your mind where it's not your friend anymore and you know that it's a trap, it will be easier than you think. You will hate it and what it does to you making you so weak.
 Quoting: BunBun

I'm one of those people, I can't stop drinking until it's all gone! My whole family are drinkers right down to every grandparent, great grandparent etc. Everyone has been successful in business, they drink later on at night, get up with a hang over etc. I followed that route, with the stress of my own companies, would come home and drink at night. Then it becomes a habit. I kicked friends to the curb who would constantly want to drink, when we were together. Now i'm by myself just trying to heal from it and take each day at a time. So many people drink and when you don't drink. You can see that the friendship isn't really one.

That is a beautiful testimony, thank you brother.

In may beseech you to check out Freedom in Christ ministries, if you haven't already. Going through the steps to freedom in christ reaffirms what you have said above..

That is is nothing by our power (A.A. Abstinence from Alcohol, stopping this act, and then doing this) when we try to take it into our own hands to free ourselves from our chains, we fail, and are more miserable because of it.

What some dont realize is that Christ already paid the price, it has already been done, YOU ARE A FREE CHILD OF GOD! Nothing you do can change this, and nothing you don't do will change this either.

However, when we become deceived by the lies of the enemy. It is possible to live in slavery once more, because we are not believing the truth that Christ has set us free. When you start to feel inadequete, unaccepted, and when you believe that lie, you will be under the burden of sin again, doesnt change the fact you are a newborn child of God, that you are saved in Christ. But it does affect the life we live here on this Earth.

It just like a newly freed slave after the emancipation proclamation. They are freed slavws, but all they have known is a life of slavery, when a messenger comes to their plantation to announce their freedom, they are in shock because they dont know what freedom is. Then when the messenger leaves, and the old master comes out and tells them that they are sti slaves, and will only be slaves for as long as they live, who are they going to believe?

I was tired of feeling bad, and especially after alcohol, and wanted to lose some weight(gut). Started the Paleo diet after Christmas--no alcohol, no flour, no sugar, no cereal, no soda-pop, no bread or pie or cake---just fresh fruit and vegetables and non-processed meat/fish. Started feeling better within just a couple of days. Also did the Dr. Mercola intermittent fasting (only eat between noon and 8 p.m.)and go to Gym 3-4 times/week. Drink lots of coffee and tea. Have lost 15 pounds, feel better than I EVER have. Hope this helps.

I did it fellow AC, I was a heavy drinker for years. Gave myself a mild case of pancreatitis. I did a quick taper down to no alcohol in three days, then cold turkey. I will not lie, it's a bitch for about 2 weeks, then you start feeling better. It's really a matter of will power. Replace the alcohol with juice or anything else for that matter, something that doesn't harm you. I dropped 40 lbs and am off 2 prescription due to the lack of drinking. You can do it if you want to badly enough.

Less than %50 rule

The Bible says that God gave wine to make men glad (Psalm 104:15). Why have some people turned this blessing of God into a curse? The answer is that many people do not follow God’s instructions.

A blessing of wine was prophesied as a heritage to the chosen people in Genesis 27:28: “May God give you heaven’s dew and earth’s richness — an abundance of grain and new wine [tirosh].” The Hebrew word tirosh, meaning “new wine,” is used in 38 places in the Old Testament. People sometimes conclude that this word means grape juice, or fresh-pressed juice of the vine. However, Hosea 4:11 states: “Old wine [yayin] and new wine [tirosh] take away their understanding.” Grape juice could not have this effect. Tirosh is an intoxicating wine if used in excess.
New Testament instruction

John the Baptist did not drink wine (oinos in the Greek) or any other form of alcohol because it was prophesied that he wouldn’t (Luke 1:15). However, Jesus Christ did drink oinos (wine) (Matthew 11:19; Luke 7:34). Jesus did not preach against the use of wine; instead he did like most other Jews of his day. He drank wine in moderation. In ancient times it was normally diluted with water for drinking, and was one of the principal beverages at that time — as it is today.

Poke smot, and pour your booze down the drain!

I have been tempted lately to grab a beer, havent drank anything since september/october of last year. Once I started poking smot again, I thought to hell with alcohol, weed is much better/safer.

Dont let me be a stumbling block tho, if you are totally against "drugs" and cannabis to be exact, then it is better if you stayed away from it.

Totally sober is much better than anything. But if you have to take the edge off, a little smokey smoke never hurt.

So since you're a pussy, we should all quit drinking? No, I think you were a retard before you ever started drinking, OP.

Re: stop drinking alcohol now!!
Moderation is the key. That being said, alcohol is not the same as it used to be. Chemicals in wine, beer and whiskey also have GMO's and whiskey is no longer aged the same and is ethanol blended. The corporations bought up most of the booze companies and than had the rules changed on what they have to dislose and what aged 8 years really entails, but I digress. Most people don't have a clue what has been going on with their alcohol due to changes over the last 30 years.

The bottom line is it is much worse for you than ever before.
