Windows 10 - Unified global identity system
So. The real reason you are getting a free forced upgrade to Windows 10.

What is Microsoft's long term plan ? Surely you can see that nothing is EVER for free.

Microsoft Azure cloud is beginning to control everything. Many companies have already moved email into Office 365 cloud email. Giving control to Microsoft.

Now, Windows 10 includes forced upgrades. Did you know, unless you use Windows 10 for Business, or Enterprise editions, you cannot delay updates to the operating system. This means any new features are unstoppable.

Windows 10 LTSB (long term service version) available only to Enterprise business, can delay updates for up to 10 years, but for most people, you do not get this option.

On to the juicy part. Azure Active Directory.

Traditionally your users are stored in an Active Directory domain controller. This is now beginning to move to Microsofts cloud.

The long term plan, is for a global active directory system which Microsoft manage and you pay a subscription for. This can then be integrated to everything, banking, insurance etc.

So, now you know why Windows 10 is the last operating system they will ever be releasing, this is fact. You also know now, why it is free.

Also, in case you didn't know it, all new computers will require Windows 10. Microsoft has done a deal with Intel.

So, sooner or later, you will be forced to use the new global identity system.

Again this misleading title (and article)!

It only means that the new hardware will not support old Windows versions. The new hardware will still run Linux and other operating systems. The person who wrote the article is so Windows-centric that he hasn't given any thought to all these other operating systems.

Yes to be precise I was talking about Windows. Of course, you can still run Linux on a new computer. Thankfully.

It is more than this. You can turn some of the telemetry off, the real motivation is money. They wish to sell you windows on a subscription model, so you are endlessly paying a fee. Like every other business model nowadays.

The ultimate goal is to control identities in Azure, which give global single sign on access to everything, which they profit from.

So whether its a conspiracy or just their smart new ultimate money grab, Microsoft will ultimately be a central clearing house for identity in the future.

Office 365 was a flop. Most people buy Office 2016. No one wants an application to be a service that they pay for a subscription for. If that's what they try to do with windows10 it will flop too.
And as far as I know, you can still delay updates at least on Win10 Pro. I don't understand why updates on 10 matter though because you're fucked for using 10 in the first place.

Office 2016 is no better. Your documents are now moving to the cloud. Adobe PDF latest version is also now moving documents to the cloud.

The business world is using Office 365. I regularly sit in rooms full of IT executives and a large amount of companyies are considering moving ALL corporate email into Office 365 or a similar cloud email such as hosted Amazon AWS. But mostly Office 365.

Very few companies are planning to maintain on-site email systems in the future. Executives want a monthly cloud bill and no more capital expenditure bills for aircon, power or new servers.

Windows 10 is the best tool and weapon against botnets, virusses and trojans.
Because lazy ass computer illiterate people not taking any action protecting their pc against ill shit, Microsoft steps in to protect and clean the users's pc from afar.

Botnets and criminal activity was always a plague on the Internet and as users don't take any responsibillity, others will as with all things in life.

As an added bonus a direct line has been laid to the NSA which can datamine your pc for everything that's on it.

Go Linux if you don't like it.

I am a network security admin, and I can confirm all of this. I have been telling people to migrate away from Microsoft (and Google) for over a decade now. Mac OS X is okay for now, but iOS is not. I always recommend Linux based computers and Android based mobile devices with the OEM ROM replaced with one that gives the user full control over the device. And never use ANY network device without a firewall that monitors all inbound and outbound traffic.

Statistics say otherwise.

Walk in to any new store, all laptops now are Win 10, or Mac. But > 50% Win10.

So, Microsoft is far from dead. The zombie just came alive.

This is not about spying. You are all missing the point.

It is about complete control. You will need to pay rent for your own identity in time, because everything will depend on it.

By then, all systems will be in the cloud, where you PAY.

It is control, via ownership of your digital identity.

Just wait until your rent is due.

So. In short, FIDO alliance is designed to replace global passwords with a global biometric authentication system.
