Yes, and that moisture attaches to condensate nuclei in the combustion gases. How does it evaporate if the air is cold enough?

You mentioned before that if there was enough moisture in the air, they would always have to de-ice but the moisture is created BEHIND the engines (through hydrocarbon combustion) and never comes in contact with the control surfaces. After it contacts the nuclei and freezes into ice crystals, how does it then "evaporate" if the air is cold enough to make the crystals in the first place?

Anyway, I suppose the tiny ice crystals sublimate in the low pressure up high.
Watch any jet flying (that isn't spraying) and you too will notice the contrail is short lived, a matter of seconds usually, and they never spread out into a greasy, cloudy day.
