How freaking pathetic is that! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80448In a situation like this, $$$$ would be at stake for such things as COURT costs and LITIGATION FEES, I don't think that they were thinking on a "P.C." basis, it ALL comes down to the dollar. .........This Space For Rent......... |

KaylaWren User ID: 165223 United States 12/11/2006 11:20 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I saw Blue Dolphin's thread on this story and emailed the gentleman from the Port of Seattle yesterday. This is the email I sent: >>>In the spirit of Christmas, I would like to offer you wishes of a joyful season with your friends and family. I also want to offer my thoughts on the decision to remove the trees at the airport at one man's objections. We are a country based on diversity, no doubt, and no one is suggesting that this Rabbi not be given space for his menorah. Removing these trees was a sad reminder that we daily sacrifice our American individuality to conform to a minority who is acting in a selfish and controlling manner. The trees were beautiful and brought much joy to passengers during their hectic schedules... think of the children accompanying their parents who, while the parents are flustered and rushing through the airport and waiting in lines, look up and see your decorated trees and are reminded of the fun they represent. I believe these trees should immediately go back up to show the public that the airport values all celebrations, even the Christian/American ones. And, yes, offer the Rabbi a place for his menorah. The power of doing this would reflect the true spirit of Christmas. Blessings to you and yours.<<< It seems the public sentiment had a positive effect on the outcome. Thanks to Blue Dolphin and the other posters on that thread whose comments helped me articulate the above email. |

If you do some searching on the web, you will find that the lighted/decorated trees are originally from pagan doings that were eventually used by "Other" people also. They talked about it all morning long on the radio stations and one of the callers made that very point. So, it is December and the trees have lights on them. Big deal. This IS the "Evergreen State" you know. Lights are lights and fun no matter if they have religious over-tones and so what if someone puts up some candles. Make the place look nice WITHOUT making it a "Religious" thing. Sheeeeesh, where has peoples common senses gone? .........This Space For Rent......... |
