Help wanted, fake Revenue Canada call.
I just had a phone call from Ryan Smith, pretending to be Revenue Canada
Ph. No. 1-844-533-1073 about the suspicion of the Tax fraud and call back.

I did right away, who ever picket up, said Ryan Smith is busy and ask me, if I'm home alone!!!!

I told him NO, I'm not, and why would he ask that. He hang up on me.

Anybody else in this situation? I'm not trying to be paranoid.

This has been a common fraud scheme in the US for several years now. Bottom line is that the IRS and probably Revenue Canada don't make these kind of calls. Did Ryan sound like he was from Mumbai?

Lol..., I know, talked to Revenue Canada few times in the past, they don't make these kind of calls.
Just want to know if it's a common fraud scheme today or if I'm SPECIAL.

He supposed to call back within 15min., nothing yet. It's all clear probably.

It is a scam, they will try to scare you onto sending money to them. Call Revenue Canada and tell them about this call. Canada Revenue Agency- Individual income tax and trust enquiries

Canada Revenue doesn't make unsolicited phone calls. They mail you and if it goes to the wrong address, no problem, they will just remove all your money from your bank account and then you will call them.

See how it works?

Canada Revenue never calls. They always contact you through an official letter. In the letter they will state your name, your address, and you SIN number.

My father had the same call (well very similar) and he was freaked out !
I reassured him it was an OBVIOUS scam and of course it was.

Did the guy had any accent ?

My Canadian relatives started getting those calls the day after New Years. Threatened to send them off to jail if they did not send money right away.

Turned out to be a scam.

It is a scam You will likely get a publisher clearing house check in the mail and then Revenue Canada calls and wants the tax money before the price is issued. it is a scam.

I got the same call been happening a lot around these parts My buddy got his yesterday told the guy he wanted to meet him so he could punch him out for being a scumbag .Guy hung up right away
