A nation of Peter Pans: We have created a country filled with perpetual children
Good piece on Fox.

According to a new study by the Pew Research Center, men and women between the ages of 18 and 34 are now more likely to be living with their parents than living on their own or in any other living situation [such as sharing an apartment].

This is the first time in American history that young people—32.1 percent of millennials—have been most likely to live with their parents.

While the researchers theorize that this trend is due to the fall in the number of men and women settling down romantically before the age of 35, I disagree. Even single people like their space, especially if they intend to use it for dating and romance.

I think the trend is a calamity that reflects the erosion of real self-determination in young people, fueled by their unfounded, rocketing, wafer-thin self-esteem.

We have created a nation filled with too many perpetual children—Peter and Patty Pans—who were brought up getting trophies for participating in sports, instead of winning, protected from the supposed horrors of being ranked by grades and scores and sold corrosive message by the likes of Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton that everyone deserves every kind of support, regardless of the level of education they have or the work they put forward.

We have hobbled a generation, or two.

It's so true yet so sad, I commonly hear people around me comment about "adulting" and how they dislike it so much. These people are around 40 years old mind you yet they seem to think of responsibility as a bad thing that only requires occasional effort and then they are free to regress back to childish ways. Pathetic!

Bump yes i know topic is months old i agree but it seems every topic on here critizes the nations/worlds problems without providing tips, suggestions, insight, or some sort of advice so to the peter pans out there i say start small doing own cooking cleaning laundry etc next save money take a vacation even if its a day or two by yourself or a friend to anywhere you need to live independantly as if you have no one in this world once you start doing things on your own your confidence will explode the impossible will become possible and life isnt as hard and scary as it seems dont ever let anyone tell you cant do something, or be afraid of failing we only learn by making mistakes peter pan will grow up at 20 30 or 40 so grow up

Re: A nation of Peter Pans: We have created a country filled with perpetual children
good. moving out at 18 is what stupid people do. smart people stay as long as they can while saving & helping out around the house.

all my friends that ot apartments at 18 or so would make fun of me because i was still living with my parents.

tjose idiots are almost all broke and all still live in apartments, living paycheck to paycheck.

my "stupid" conservative self saved up for a condo & paid off a truck while living at home.

only stupid liberal people move out at 18... that or their family cant stand them so they kick them out.

Some of these Peter Pan types, if they are not given food, will live off of sweet childish cereals & milk.
These types go out in public places in their pajamas & slippers. You see them at Walmart buying cereal, milk and hot pockets.

article is BS. In the past large families lived together on farms and worked together. Generations lived in the same house.

When TSHTF and the economy crashes which it will, then they will be defenseless. The first ones to be eliminated.

But they are too stupid to even sense the dangers coming soon.
