Being Self Employed is Tiring!
Its sure not your 9-5 job, thats for sure. More like 24 hours a day job. You live eat and sleep your work if you want your business to do well.

I do both the outdoor physical labor, return phone calls, line out new jobs, go look at new jobs, do the secretarial work, and do most all the maintenance on my vehicles and equipment. Yeah it is stressful. And there is hardly anytime left for anything else.

BUT!

I dont have to be anyones bitch besides the customers, which, if they get too out of hand, I dont do business with them.

I like both sides having been there...
Self employed is a hustle like you said 24/7, but I also liked sucking on the corporate titty. Paid vacations, benefits, comp time!!! those were the glory days.

If you are self employed all you have to look forward to is increased local ordinances, taxes, insurance, fees, rent, permits, all kinds of basic freedoms stripped away through code and sold back to you as government sanctioned.

Most of the time and when you are not dealing with bureaucrats your employees are fucking you over one way or another.

Granted there still are good people and they sometimes work out but that seems few and far between as work ethic is becoming more rare as the conditions of our country continue to deteriorate.

What exactly is the incentive these days?
