Anonymous Coward User ID: 70948929 United States 06/07/2016 06:53 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sometimes turning a computer on and off can cause boards to have problems due to heating and cooling over and over. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72226807 This to a minor degree is certainly true, but even more important is to open up the case once and a while and used some compressed air on the fans (especially the heatsink for the processor) and really get the dust out. A build up of dust will make your fans strain or just not spin fast enough and your air flow will turn to junk. Heat and dust is the enemy of all electronics. |

It wont die on me it was custom built by trained experts, from Overclockers UK. And stress tested before they shipped it. If you get a PC custom made by any top brand you can pretty much guarantee it wont breakdown. However if you built it yourself then good luck with that, chances are unless you're an experienced and knowledgeable computer builder, it will turn out unreliable. Life is a dream and we are the imagination of ourselves. |

Once in awhile they will reboot for updates or I will reboot for whatever reason but other than that they're on 24/7 365 days a year. And they last forever, btw. It's all fun & games until the Dogman stands up Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well-preserved body but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "Holy Shit! What a ride!" In times of trouble, I ask myself, "What would Sarah Conner do?" |

Raisty User ID: 62761869 United States 06/07/2016 07:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Get an UPS (uninterruptible power supply). To kind of answer your question... I've seen more hardware die during startup after a reboot than just quit while the computer was on. However if you live somewhere where you get power outages or if you have storms that frequently give you "flickering lights" you need an UPS. The constant on and off again of a computer will kill it quicker than turning it off at night or keeping it on will. |
