On a serious note, I would support the decision if that's what the people of Texas wanted.

I can't see a downside really...except maybe needing a passport to visit TN family!

I agree. Texas has a vast variety of resources that they could use to be self-sustaining. The downsides would be political.

I'd like to see it put up for a vote like the Brexit vote today.

The largest group agitating for secession is the Texas Nationalist Movement, which has been promoting its own version of Brexit, called Texit, over the past several weeks. The feds just finished waterboarded Texas for trying that stunt once before....

RighT or wrong, the Govt would never let Texas go. The fact that a bulk of refined petroleum comes out of Texas would be reason alone for a physical fight, no matter any vote or legal elements saying otherwise.

That would be Transexit.

It's mostly Mexican now anyway. We would just have to build the wall a little further North.

I would definitely move to Texas before the vote if I felt it would pass. Texas is the best state in the union anyway.
