Discovery and History channel things can be found on Netflix for about $10/month.

Your desire to continue to watch sports is why you still pay $189.00/month.

"Yay us!!!"
"Boo them!!!"
"Go us!!!"
"Your team sucks!"
"We won!"
"They lost!"

It's all the same and pointless to watch day after day, week after week.

Once you come around to this way of thinking and give up your sports, you can have what you want.

Alternatively, although not 100% reliable like a satellite/cable service, you could get a Roku or Amazon FireTV stick, install "koda" on it (lots of 7-step instructions available on the internet at tvaddons.ag), you could use one of the modules inside Koda to see your live sporting events.

Good luck

I did it last month and do not miss it one bit. I have two Amazon fire sticks and an apple tv.

Get an HD antenna for $30 on amazon and off you go!!

Saving $105 / month!!

Re: what options does one have for cutting the cord on Cable tv ?
well we got the HD antenna, its really tall with a red light on it.

it picks up almost sixty channels that are local.

we get all the news stations, you know the local news,
there is PBS, cooking shows, hunting, fishing, sports, even the Florida legislation is on one channel.even a weather channel.a game show channel..

then there are the good ones, which have all the oldies like bewitched, i dream of jeannie, even the OLD ones like father knows best and the patty duke show, dennis the menace, the beaver, etc.

the ONLY channel i miss from cable is SCIFI...but i have the internet for my needs there and i especially enjoy the sci fi shorts on youtube.little three minute movies.

i am really GLAD we got this antenna.
thats almost a hundred bucks a month back in our pockets.

you might wanna check it out.

All depends where you are...some places near me in the mountains can only get 1...or even no channels over the air. I get 7 with just a crappy home-made antenna. Use one of the sites like rabbitears.info or tvfool.com and put in your zip to see what you can get.

Be careful went stopping cable tv or Dish Network because they won't let you stop! Even when I gave Dish 3 months advanced notice of my intentions of quitting they STILL charged me fee's. The $400 early cancellation fee is the worst. They go right into your bank account without your permission and steal your fucking money.

Figure out your favorite shows and buy the complete dvd set. Mine was Forensic Files and The New Detectives. It cost me $150 dollars for both but I have months and months of dvd's I can watch ... and watch it forever. For sports here's what you do. You watch old stuff. I am a New England Patriot fan to the max. But now when I feel like watching a game I just You Tube last years playoff game or whatever game. Same for NASCAR, Golf, Drag Racing, and college football. I just recently watched Johnny Mansiel Texas A&M greatest games (usually against Alabama) and got football out of my system for a while. You can do the same thing. Switch down to basic basic internet cable for 30 bucks a month. It plays videos just fine. Good luck.
