Dealing with Asperger Syndrome

I was asked how I propose should be done about Asperger Syndrome.
This is my proposal.

The first thing you do, is you treat ALL people equally, period.
People in general are beyond sick and tired of being treated like 2nd class citizens.

It didn't work with women, it didn't work with the Blacks, it didn't work with the Gays, and it isn't working with the Disabled either.
Society gets nothing out of having 2nd class citizens except for crime, it never got anything but crime, and it will never get anything out of having 2nd class citizens other than crime.
If you have 2nd class citizens, you have crime.
Period.
That's the bottom line.


You treat people equally WELL.
That's what you're supposed to do.
Not Unequally, nor Equally like shit... but equally WELL.


The second thing is, you don't raise Children who have Asperger Syndrome in an area like Philadelphia or Pittsburgh or Detroit or Los Angeles or Las Vegas where they learn violent behavior, or feel the need to use violent behavior.
Period.

You move to a place that has laws designed to maintain a middle class suburban residential township with a low crime rate and civil order, where the educated people who have jobs and money live.



The third thing that you do, is that you put them in Special Ed in a normal school with high standards that caters to the goals of the students..
And you send them to counseling at least twice a week, every day throughout their childhood and teenage years to give them some place to solve their emotional issues..
If they have any.


And what you do, is you teach them social skills.

You teach them manners, you teach them etiquette and you teach them Anger Management skills and how to both reject and to deal with rejection.
You teach them how to interact appropriately with other people.
You teach them about relationships.

And you do it from books.

They don't have those skills, they need to gain those skills.




And its not just the person with Asperger syndrome that needs to learn how to deal with society.
Society needs to learn how to deal with different people period.



You don't learn how to deal with Blacks by reading the Black Sambo.

You don't learn how to deal with gays by reading the book of bullshit called the Bible.

You don't learn how to deal with people of other faiths by reading Mein Kampf..



You don't learn how to deal with people with Disabilities by never seeing them anywhere, NOT reading POSITIVE things about them, and by never being punished when you open up your mouth about them in a negative manner...

Just like you don't learn to NOT be a racist when you're not punished when you use the N word.


Period.

That's how it is.



There is no dealing with anybody.
There is only equality and education and acceptance period.
