It’s not a new plan, but it’s one the 72-year-old says is finally within reach after years dedicated to the cause. In 1987, he spent 12 days behind bars for publicly revealing details about paedophile priest Michael Charles Glennon. In 2011, he spent five months in home detention for naming two sex offenders despite suppression orders. Between January and March 2014, he spent 50 days in prison for revealing details about Jill Meagher’s killer, Adrian Bayley. He has 160,000 signatures on a petition for a public national sex offender registry but, despite all his efforts, his dream has never been realised. That could change after he secured a Victorian Senate seat on behalf of his Justice Party at Saturday’s election. Details of Hinch’s plan are relatively simple. I don't envy him the battle. It's about to get a lot harder. There's a push that some may have already picked up on, but most not; to lower the age of consent and legalise paedophilia. For anyone reading this who doesn't believe me, give it ten-fifteen years; perhaps less. Normalisation of incest might be ahead of it on the schedule. Anyway, I'm glad that Derryn is doing what he's doing. He has my support.
