I have them too, last year they raided my plum tree. I got a few plums once they ripened, but one night a family of racoons went into that tree and took every remaining one of them. It was as if they had planned the harvest for that night.

The plums are about to ripen again, I have heard that ammonia will keep them away so I'm thinking about making some kind of a moat with ammonia around the tree this time.

why don't you use a cage and catch the coon instead?
