Anonymous Coward User ID: 72754052 United States 08/25/2016 08:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have so many yellowjackets this year, it's out of control. Poor birds can't even get to their feeders. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 45994478 Came home from work, checked out the birdbath, swatted away the damn thing and it stung me right on the inside of my right middle finger lol Damn that hurt. And swelled and felt weird. Fortunately I'm not allergic but until I took an aspirin my hand swelled and felt that weird feeling going up my arm. It's cool now. Just a simple aspirin my friends, not that ibuprofen garbage. For The Yellow Jacket. His sacrifice against tyranny will not be forgotten. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70343163 Damn that had to hurt on the lips. Could indeed have been a sign AC. When I got stung, it hurt almost instantly, I'm like wtf. My lip blew up like a balloon and I had to go to work and see the girl, lol. |

Felt something on my head the other day, went to waft what ever it was away, well it was a bleeding wasp, stung me on my bastard finger. What is the point of them? |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 45994478 United States 08/25/2016 09:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | lol Quoting: Anonymous Coward 45994478 hey they are nasty and aggressive, protecting their birdfeeder with the sugar water. I actually have saved a few from drowning in my birdbath. How stupid am I. They my thank you later and sting your enemies, if you have any :) I have no enemies in my life or in my backyard, except for them. Poor hummingbirds and orioles can barely go to their feeders, and they will be leaving for migration in a couple of weeks and need to feed heavily. It's so fucked up. The only think I can do is take them down. They are aggressive monsters. I don't mind a wasp here and there but this is too much. I see them chase off and follow the hummingbirds at the feeder. |

I also have seen A TON of these things this year, more so than ever before and they are super inquisitive, not necessarily aggressive but they are constantly flying all around you even landing on you. I cant count how many have landed on me or my fishing pole while out fishing lately. Havent been stung so they arent aggressive but they are everywhere and love being right on top of you I wonder why this year |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72861146 That had to hurt! I'm so sorry. I think they are pollinators, other than that I don't know what the point is. Something has to eat them thought don't they? Haven't seen it though. I'll tell ya what, I have other brownish and blackodd variety colored wasps in my yard also which are not aggressive at all compared to those yellow jackets. Fucking terrorists. |

They went up my pants and back then the jeans were still pretty tight. They bit and stuck me more times then I could count. I had to rip my pants off in a parking lot of softball players. I couldnt walk for a week. After that I must had been stung 50 times by the same nest because I declared war on them. I poured so many things down that wasp hole and eventually the whole sawdust flat had a fire and finished them off. That thing burned for months and when i went down there where the wasp nest was had a big burned area. I tried to go see if they were there but the ground still felt like it was on fire. We moved shortly after and I never did find out what happened. If those cocksuckers lived I will be pissed. Just in case you are wondering I didnt light the fire lol |

Yah up until today I have just let them fly around me as I just go about my business, have had them land on me. Not cool but let it go. but this year has been different. When I started my lawnmower the other day there was one attacking me out of the blue. My neighbor saw it and said that the wasp was protecting something. Eventually it went away. So idk, just a weird year for yellowjackets in my area. We are coming out of an unusual drought. |

Get one of those yellow jacket traps and put a piece of salmon in it. Put it about 10 feet away from the bird feeder. They love bbq fish. Maybe ask at the fish market for a bit of fish skin. You can add a drop of liquid smoke to it. |
