I would take issue with the "logic" in your second paragraph.

When people within a given faith are brainwashed from birth re the virtues of their "religion" they tend to remain under its "spell". Critical thought being at a premium on this planet.

The same is true for converts in the sense that critical thinking skills are no doubt at a premium among that "crowd", as well. Thus, a bit of well placed propaganda, etc, -- and voila, a new muslim.
