Tell me the Cheapest house that a single person could build.
Assuming electrical or battery powered tools. It would have to withstand at least an F2 tornado or at least as well as a well built stick house.

Cheaper than wood building. Tornado, flood and fire resistant far beyond regular homes. Very inexpensive to build.

Isn't that bag kind of pricy? Could one man pour or shoot the concrete? I'm trying to keep it down to my labor. what do you think it would cost to build 1500 sq ft?

I've thought about that a lot.

My current thoughts run along the lines of a pole barn or dry stacked concrete blocks with homemade roof trusses. I've considered lining the inside of the pole barn with straw bales and just finishing the inside of the bale.

Re: Tell me the Cheapest house that a single person could build.
EARTH BERMED .... cheap to build - with cinder blocks - need double walls on the parimiter ... mine is solar passive so it has a wall of southfacing windows - interior walls are cinderblock too - studded out and drywalled ... its 30x75 and packed on three sides with earth- double beams in the ceiling and steel door frames to hold three feet of dirt on top

Can't burn, I'm not in a flood zone, and a tornado could hit it full blast and it would just hop right over it

2500 sf of living space - re-build cost of $185K - just had it appraised for $240K - and because it sits on five gated and crossed fenced acres with appropriate out building for a working farm, I was offered $350 for it, by a real estate agent

you don't need to back it into a hill, just build it solid and cover it with dirt ... best - cheapest house in the world

cool in the summer, warm in the winter - only have to paint the front of it - which looks like a conventional house - until you go around back - sound proof, wind proof and invisible via satillite - its got warm-wired tile floors with six inch tile splash wall - that keep all the rodents and insect OUTside - plenty of light - with the 75' of windows - I love it

yes and a layer of rigid foam sheets (2") it doesn't leak anywhere because it is two block thick ... if you grade your dirt right, the water just flows off of it - put rebar in the foundation and an earthquake wouldn't phase it - no need for insurance ... LOL

Not much is standing past 150 mph sustained winds.

Build a concrete block house filled the blocks with

concrete, Use tie down straps in the poured concrete blocks

to tie down your rafters..

That is florida's new Hurricane code for all new homea

This is pretty much the way I've been thinking. Surface bonded blocks, with a flat, sloped roof. But like the other guy is saying, I could berm it on 3 sides and it would be even better.

Refrigerator box
Plastic tarp
4 stakes
Rope

After throwing the tarp over the box, drive stakes at the 4 corners, attach the rope and keep crisscrossing it across the structure until all the rope is gone.
