You need at least 10 karma points so you can purchase a green karma pin, then you can use it to pin a thread...

Click on your karma and then karma prizes. Redeem your prize (pin a thread) and go back to the thread you want to pin. An option to pin it will appear under your name. Just click it and it's green pinned :)))

Pinning your own thread is considered impolite to say the least so if you ever do it don't announce the fact or I can just about guarantee it'll cost you more than 10 karma points in the end.
