Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70738449 And why everyone has been in jail in Austin. Everyone been in jail in Austin? I have an office downtown and see lots of arrests, but its usually homeless folks or shitty drunks. Downtown austin does have a pocket of homelessness thats bad, but its not even close to Portland's all over the city homelessness |

Only three ways to make life in Portland bearable: A) smack B) lots of booze C) both of the above |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 68914857 United States 11/14/2016 12:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My Green Design class at architectural school praised Portland. I went there last year and the only cool things about it were the music store and old trucks were everywhere. You don't see many old trucks in upstate NY. Some trendy 40-something jumped at the chance to tell us the streets were alphabetically laid out |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 73412344 United States 11/14/2016 12:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP is correct. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30194388 I took the family to Portland for a 9 day vacation, and left on the 3rd day. The entire town is a dump and full of rude people. Never, ever again. I feel for you. Its expensive here also. Hope you didnt waste too much money here. That sucks. This is no town for any decent people or families. I cant believe the literal shitpiles of negativity I got when just being nice toward people. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73414435 Only three ways to make life in Portland bearable: A) smack B) lots of booze C) both of the above Looks like most of the city has chosen A. Its such a trip to see kids who just got on smack/crack like a week ago. Still in nice clothes, missing shoes and filthy begging around. Is it all smack? I saw some tweeked out looking fuckers |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 70030778 United States 11/14/2016 01:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | May I suggest that you do everything you can to visit Oregon? The Oregon Coast. Oregon has arguably the very best State Park system in the US. Particularly on the coast. Reasonably Priced. I'm looking forward to doing 2 weeks of soft camping in Yurts and dry Cabins on the Southern Oregon Coast in June. Actually quality units well maintained. (They voted Trump and will be more reasonable to both sides.) Its like $41 a night but you have to get reservations now or sooner. ======== Back to Portland. It is bizarre at times. I'm really really really glad I will not be going there for Thanksgiving or Christmas this year. They were breaking windows in the Pearl District too. |
eagle's heart/aurora User ID: 60157323 United States 11/14/2016 01:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I know that they call Southwest Oregon the "Land of Jefferson". I know someone who lives there said they used to hang black people from their tallest bridge back in the day, but that wasn't the word he used for black people. But every place has both. Good and bad people. I'm sure there are many in Oregon that think that hanging a person for the color of their skin is evil. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 73415829 United States 11/14/2016 01:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Is so toxic and negative, I cant even begin to understand. Everyone is nasty butthurt and 100% focused on only Trump and politics. Now we are from Austin which is a liberal city no doubt, but at least people are nice about it. The millennial Portland crowd is so fucking rude. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73412344 A few other things... The traffic here is horrible. Much worse the Austin. The entire state smells like something decomposing at all times. Homeless people are all over the place. Its always wet and slick. Even if it hasnt rained in 24 hours which.... Is a stretch since its 100 cloudy and drizzly most of the time. 55 speed limits out in the sticks. Since taking forever is on the agenda... The coastline is beautiful, but the water is always way to cold unless you have a wetsuit. Apparently even in summer. Most of the coastal cities are cute, but full of millennial crybabies. Seriously i had a 20 something tell me he was going to have to practice his primal screaming later. I just stopped asking how people are as a niceity. The foothills of the mountains are nice, but no easy road along them like in Colorado. So its an extra 2 hours to visit a foothills locations. At under 55. Even outside portland everyone is liberal it seems. Its so muggie humid and stinky its not fun. Very depressing place. Come here to become a drug addict or die. Pick someplace else for a vacation. Go back to TexASS where you belong and stop whining. |

Some trendy 40-something jumped at the chance to tell us the streets were alphabetically laid out Lots of pretentious gen y and x around here. From what i can tell "making it" here is nearly impossible as they pay about -20% base for even high demand jobs vs a place like Austin. They have about 1/4 the job openings to fill. Then they have 20% higher Cost of living here on top of that. Triple whammy on jobs. Seriously you cant pump your own gas! Its impossible to get away without tipping for everything here. 2.59 for regular unleaded. Really??? |

Portal-land is a rude place because liberals are rude, nasty, vicious creatures. Have you ever seen any ~love~ emanating from a lib holding a "Love Trumps Hate" sign??? |

Ive known many liberals but its just not militant in Austin. I hope it doesnt trend that way. For the most part politics is never the main topic of conversation. I wouldnt go near those protests however. What a clusterfuck of idiots. They changed nothing. Nothing. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 70731819 Canada 11/14/2016 01:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | ok there is one good thing about Portland - Voodoo Donuts. Google it, they make really cool looking donuts. Quoting: Mary T 3078945 I thought the food was okay. Overpriced but everything here is. I did get an amazing smoked salmon pot pie but it was 16 bucks. That said, having to either hand money and get change from someone with HERPES showing or as a waiter, fucking disgusting! They do make meds for that but I guess its acceptable to showcase your herpes in Oregon. 5 food service, baristas, waiters had herpes visable. I used a straw for everything. Really fucked up. Really disgusting. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 71050233 United States 11/14/2016 02:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Portland has gone to the dogs.. since the liberals took over but then again so has Seattle San Francisco,Detroit, Chicago, LA... SF is such a dump the light posts are falling over due to urine rusting the bases. The homeless are tools of the left like the blacks.. other minoritys if they can keep them broke wanting or homeless they have a voter base.. BOYCOTT all the big cities. who support liberalism Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72868710 It is my belief after reading this thread that The Lord God is now in the process of collapsing the urban centers of America They're being drawn out and now the vile evil filth is being destroyed. Remember it's God taking away His Hand of protection and allowing satan and his demons to destroy these urban areas. |

Hobos and drug addicts everywhere. Once these people make money they're considered interesting hipsters. Everyone has social disorder and moved from somewhere else. Basically everyone there is everyone else's rejects. |
