Not even a "cowboy" gun, and it'll blow out your eardrums after the first shot. Although not authentic, go for a Ruger 45 Colt if you want a cowboy gun. They're stout, reliable and cheap. And the 45 Colt, even the weak "cowboy" loadings, is just as powerful as the mighty man-stopping 1911. You can also handload and shoot that cartridge up to 44 mag power in a Ruger. It's nice to have an automatic, but if you're carrying it IWB, in a pocket, purse, etc., its kind of reassuring to know that you don't have to worry about failure to feeds, failure to ejects from things like the magazines not being seated, damaged/dented mags, spring fatigue, or the many other things that can creep up on an auto. A revolver is always there ready to serve and if a person can't hit with a 5 or 6 shot revolver on a couple perps, then really a person should be running the other way. |
