Is it ok to be a Christian & bet on sports ?

I play on Draft Kings everyday with fellow members of my church including our youth pastor! Not a sin. Just plain fun but control your habits and don't get carried away.

It falls under coveting, not relying on God to give you what you need. That being said, it's up to you to give it up or not of course. I used to see gambling as a victimless crime and no harm in it but one day I was convicted by a sermon that it wasn't right to do.

I am talking about playing against a point spread.

As long as you pay your bills, and don't neglect your family, I would say yes. If the Holy Spirit does not convict you, than don't let others condemn you. Have fun OP, for the Lord made many things for us to enjoy.

If you need to ask strangers on the Internet whether or not something is wrong, you already know the answer.

However, if you are like most so-called Christians these days, you'll no doubt continue your activities without regret because you figure you can always just repent for it later and be good in God's eyes. Like most other fake Christians, you completely skip over the whole "go forth and sin no more".

A Christian does not come on to glp to ask for moral advice. They turn to their bible and prayer and seek their advice from God.

Where in the Word does it say that you cant wager on games?

I am a Word of Faith christian/ not fake.

God will let you know his opinion based on whether you win or lose. God approves of me betting NBA right now, not a big fan of NCAABB.

I'm not here to say what you should do, you will have to be convicted in your own heart. The money that you have, let's say, it's excess money that you are just playing with and not money you need, maybe it should be put to better use. I think back to all the good that I could have done and regret that I didn't do better. It was just a game to me too, but now I regret that I was foolish.

Remember that all you have came from God and it's all still His.

If you say so. Every self-professed Christian thinks they are a good Christian and that they are true to the Word and that just isn't the case. It's your story though, so tell it however you want.

Bet all you want. You were going to anyhow and you just posted to see if people here would agree with you so you could push back that twinge of guilt you were having about your gambling. Whatever you need to do to sleep well at night and keep your little world turning. Bless your heart OP.

I never donated to any org and won't today. We are to do our alms in secret. One man I knew donated anonymously for a Christmas party and gifts for special needs kids every year.
There are places in your local communities to donate to food banks, there's the Salvation Army, there's people in your churches that need food, medicine, etc., just start looking for opportunities, and seek no credit.
Missionaries need support, lots of churches have missions that they buy bibles and other things for, just investigate and see where the money goes.

Another thing is to donate to the humane society or just to your local veterinarian.Tell him to use it to pay for somebody that he knows has a sick animal and can't treat it. Rescue something, do good.

Look, I'm in Vegas a lot, and I see all those masses of people foolishly throwing their money away in those rat hole casinos there. I once saw one man lose $200,000 one night at Ceasar's Palace, and man, if people have got money to burn like that, I could sure use it myself to start a business or some other productive purpose like farming.

I was in Vegas about a week ago, and I'm a Christian too. I never have money to burn there gambling, but wow, I saw it with my own eyes!!! There was this Black man on the Strip running one of those 3 shell games, and a whole crowd of people standing around. He asked what shell the ball was under, and this man pulled out $500 out of his wallet, he thought the ball was under the middle shell. And he tool his money like that, the ball was under the shell on the left side, and lost his money like that! And he got another sucker's money right thereat the same time, he was sure the ball too was under the middle shell, what a scam!

To your own self be true, stop getting permission from others. You know your financial responsibilities and if you have a family all the more you know. So if you bring home $4,000 a month and have $3,850 in monthly expenses, the extra $150.00 / month should be saved for a rainy day, so maybe $15 or $25 per month for entertainment betting.

If you are single and bring in $4000 cash a month and have only $1500 a month in expenses then you need your better judgement to decide how much future savings you want to give to a casino or online betting site.
