Again with this Tinnitus crap, I've had my ears checked and double checked. both times perfectly good hearing.

Actually, to clatify, the usual high-pitched kinda chirping stops and I hear a very low-pitched, loud, fluttering. It can last a few seconds to a minute at most. It's more disturbing, I guess cause it comes on rarely. The chirping is constant.

I've actually had that happen as well. When on my side with one ear on the pillow.

Pillow restricts blood flow in that ear, and thus distorts the tinnitus.

What about the voices? Did the pitch of the voices you hear change?

Yes I figured that. I was just meaning it wasn't random, but specific to a particular set of circumstances.

This really does happen to me sometimes. If I'm lying in bed at night and listening carefully I can sometimes hear it. Smoking weed helps to hear it too (pot enhances the senses). It's like a fast beeping that sometimes pauses and sometimes beeps longer. I think the tone is somewhere between the 3rd and 4th Octave on a piano.

It is generally thought to originate from the man in your nose....the one responsible for rolling out the boogers.
