Can a bank transfer be reversed in the UK?

I'm not sure.

Once the funds have cleared, my guess it would not be easy to do.

I've sold loads of shit and got bank transfers and no one has ever stiffed me for money.

I've had people never pay and never turn up to collect, but never had a transfer reversed.

I've never posted until its cleared ( unless its something minor of little value and i can't be arsed to wait) but thats kind of a no brainer.

People can transfer money to your account, but they can't transfer it out again.

If they could, no-one would pass on their bank details for bank transfers.

Paypal is a different matter. If you don't want to be shafted by a forced refund, don't accept payment via Paypal.

Don't sell anything on gumtree without meeting the buyer face to face. A lot of funky sorts of fraud happen on gumtree, much better to assume he's scamming now, instead of finding out the hard way.
