moloch's_children User ID: 55299756 United States 01/13/2017 07:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Obsessive Compulsive Disorder(OCD)is a disorder in every sense of the word. OCD can manifests itself in a variety of ways. It isn't always just hand washing. It is intrusive and distressing thoughts. Repeated actions and bodily harm. It is also the overwhelming feeling of guilt, and the inability to release your mind from unnecessary fixations. OCD can be embarrassing if you have a physical manifestation of it (like facial twitching, for ex.). It also slows down your mental progress because of intrusive thoughts inhibiting idea creation. In it's worst forms, OCD simply becomes anxiety. Anxiety, if prolonged, can result in depressive episodes. Even thoughts of suicide. Anxiety and obsessions...these may AT FIRST feel like they give you an edge and extra-sensory capabilities. But I assure you, they almost always end up to be crippling you in boughts of paranoia, and eventually depression. It is a chemical imbalance that I would recommend people who suffer from it to seek treatment, especially if it affects your livelihood. I know some people who indeed overcome it without treatment. But most of us aren't that lucky. Last Edited by moloch's_children on 01/13/2017 07:24 PM "I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth." -Revelation 6:8, NIV |

If you aren't negatively affected by it, then you do not have a mental disorder. You do not have OCD. You're probably just very organized and careful and anal retentive. |

Where Eagles Dare Metal-American User ID: 69718773 United States 01/13/2017 09:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've got a touch of OCD, and here is where it gets into the disorder spectrum. At work and at home, I prefer to have things in specific orders all the time. My wife, God Bless her, tends to not do things in an orderly way such as I would prefer. I like to rotate my socks so that they wear out evenly, and she'll just toss them in the drawer without regard to their disorder. A really silly one is that I like my beers in the refrigerator to be evenly spaced and in straight lines, whereas she'll just shove 'em in the fridge however they wind up. I can't even get started about how things are at work, except suffice to say that people are generally slobs and I get tired of picking up after their lazy asses. I think that these factors kind of touch on the spectrum of disorder. Isaiah 40:31 - But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. “They’ve got us surrounded again, the poor bastards.” - U.S. Army Paratrooper at Bastogne |

I live The Dream In Reality. By its very defintition, You dont have OCD if you have control of your mind. Consider yourself lucky. O = Obssesive/Intrusive Thoughts of which you have no control over. They are unwanted. They are not controlled. They happen constantly and can be very tormenting. Its like a loop in your mind that you cannot break. C=Compulsions. Things you feel you must do in order to bring comfort or temporary relief from those thoughts. Ie..Checking things, rituals, etc. You know that its nonsensical but the urge to do them is there. There is genuine fear involved. Its very real. D= Disorder. Ie...youre not right. Now i will admit that having OCD can be beneficial in some ways. I am/have always been the best at anything I ever do. With any job ive ever held, in short time I am always, without exception, considered to be the best at it. With Art, or any other detailed activity, people would consider me a natural talent. But the truth is that I just obsess over things and they must be right. Most people know when to stop. I dont. I keep going with everything I do and therefore it appears that I excel at Everything! But again, Id trade it all away just to be normal. The way you Define OCD tells me you do not have OCD. Congratulations, you dont understand and I hope you never have the misfortune of truly understanding what I am saying. Perhaps you are just persistent or perfectionistic but definitely not OCD. |

Quoting: *CindyLou* This is true, its fine to a mild degree sorting out papers and what not, they will always be perfect. But please stop washing out my cups, they have been washed dried and hung up, the dust from the air will not hurt them. |
