I have been searching for 1st Amend. case law on this, and it is still unclear to me. All I come up with is that "public interest" would be protected, whistleblowers.

Does the National Park Service have a 1st Amend right to tweet out something directly critical to the administration (never mind it's been 15 days), or not? Does a public employee have a right?

I have worked as a public employee, and I have always been told that any press questions were never to be answered-they were to be directed to communications-and I would lose my job if I didn't. I ALWAYS had a choice whether to comply or not. If I didn't comply, I would lose my job.

This is much bigger, I understand, and I emotionally believe the gag order is appropriate. I believe tweets by official agencies should STFU. I also believe that public employees PRIVATELY tweeting and facefucking certain tihgs,are grounds for dismissal. A public teacher would be fired for posting certain things that are detrimental to the overall system.

To a certain extent, yes. The Federal and State government employees have very strong unions which generally prevail any time that there is another contract negotiation because they can threaten to send their union members on strike and shut down the government.

Once a new employee has survived their probationary period (it used to be 90 days, I don't know if it's still that length of time), they can do (or not do) just about anything short of murder and they can't/won't be fired because they will go to their union representative and file a grievance.

IMHO, the only way that these people could be gone would be if their actual jobs were eliminated entirely. Even then, "seniority" rules, so we would witness a bloody slaughter (hopefully figurative) as people with less seniority would be bumped out of their jobs, which would then cause THEM to bump people with even LESS seniority out of THEIR jobs, and we taxpayers would witness an orgiastic cascade of government unemployment.

Why do people think that encryption will stop any spying,

He has spoken of re-evaluating all of the regulations and eliminating a good number of them. Well, if regulations disappear, there will be less need for government workers, who mainly exist to make sure that regulations are obeyed.

Donald Trump is the chief executive of the USA. The executive branch works for HIM, and the buck stops there. HE is responsible to the people of the USA and he has to account for his minions. He can't do that if they're doing other than commanded. This executive structure is the same as that of any company in the world, where the CEO takes the responsibility for everyone's actions, and those actions had better be in accordance with his directives.
