I bought a golf push cart from them earlier this week. Now, on any number of sites I visit there are banner or side bar ads for umbrellas, etc. that just happen to fit the cart I purchased...

My wife got me a cell phone, and I have been calving and haven't used it. A few days ago, Verizon sent a letter asking why I wasn't using the line! I was like wtf
Apparently this spying thing is widespread.

I love that because you might need it and you didn't know it was available. But then again, so creepy

Yes, I used this in my software business. Marketing Automation. You can setup rules that if person does this, send them this. If person hasn't done this yet, send them an email reminder. I use automation so that I don't have to hire marketing and sales people. Keeps costs low and pass that value onto paying customers.

That's not just Amazon. Pretty much any website you visit, or anything you buy online, or any search you make will attach cookies to your browser, whether desktop or cell and most ads are tailored to these cookies. You gotta start deleting cookies or browse privately (which still doesn't stop everything from attaching itself to your devices.)

I was talking about my dog and what kind of food I feed her to a friend while my phone was in my shirt pocket. The next time I got on my laptop it was full of ads for dog food.

I assumed there was some sort of adware that was tied into the phones mic and yhat is why I was spammed with the targeted ads.

Clear out your history and cookies. It's not amazon doing this per se it's the ads reading your cookies and what not putting for material you're likely to buy. (Simplified).

The other day, on my cell phone, I searched for a Nike Game Day 1/2 pullover. Now on my home PC, I am getting ads for that exact item. Scary. I was far from home and not using WIFI.

Re: Amazon.com is spying on you, this should worry you
Thank you, Tool Man.

I'll admit to doing a lot...a LOT of Amazon shopping for sporting goods, accessories for camping/fishing/hunting, books, ebooks, DVDs, BluRays, video games, electronics, and on and on...

Then, about a month back, a co-worker enlightened me about Amazon's top level staff/owner and their ass-backward politics.

Now look, whatever you want to believe as an adult American, you're free to do so - but when you begin to either let your political poison drip into the community, or shove your 'tolerant' leftist agenda on others - whether they want it or not - is where I've gotta stop supporting in any way...even w/ my small amount of monthly business w/ Amazon.

I've decided to cut ties w/ Amazon, and it's for a number of reasons - mostly because of principle. I honestly have no complaints RE: business w/ Amazon...they've always treated me well and w/ respect. When problems arose (2x in over 100 transactions, over ~12 years), Amazon quickly made it right, either by arbitration w/ seller or by no-questions-asked refund.

But I can't support leftist mind poison, gun control, forced immigration influx, et al in any form. I've completed my very last transaction w/ this entity.

It's not just cookies.

I have talked about certain things and then had ads for them fed to me online. I have looked up items on one device and had ads pushed to me on unrelated sites for the same product (same exact model #) on a separate device.

You are not just fed cookies, you are actually listened to and spied on.

I laugh when I look up something on Amazon and then all the banners are promoting what I've been looking at. Bottom line; I don't care.
