need advice ...about to consider sinus surgery .
Chronic sinus issues ... Always piping Advil cold sinus pills (psuedoephedrine ) to knock out the pain

I'm afraid of 2 things ..

The required ct scan prior which is high radiation

And getting put under anesthesia ...what if I never wake up
And have " complications from surgery "

Any how ...anyone with results that were good !?

Risk vs reward as in all things in life.
A single cat scan wount harm you. As for not waking up from anesthesia? Well that's not such a bad way to go out.

Your pill popping is a lot more dangerous and likely causing more problems than a single CT Scan..

I'd stop with the pills and do some homeopathic attempt, if not already tried. Breathing in essential oils in hot water, changing to a vegan diet, taking anti-inflammatory things like MSM and Turmeric, Chorlella/Spirulina, ACV, for example.

Advil is poisonous to health and liver and a whole lot of other things in your body. If you are taking it, ensure you take probiotics and enzymes. You are killing them off (in your gut), and it affects digestion, proper absorption of nutrients, and leads to complicating factors of all sorts...

Drink plenty of water. Saline spray that can be found at any drugstore. Antibiotics if not caused by allergies.

Re: need advice ...about to consider sinus surgery .
Go to a naturopath before you have surgery. My friend had sinus surgery and lost his sense of smell.

Here's the Earth Clinic page for ailments starting with "S", they have about 5 categories for sinus problems, I would read them all completely if I were you:

[link to www.earthclinic.com (secure)]

Have you tried anything natural, any herbs or nutritional supplements, or only over the counter drugs?

Surgery is a radical last ditch solution, I would exhaust every other possibility first.

The way most people approach it is, they try all the drugs and surgery and then when that doesn't work, they try the natural route, improving their diet etc.

Why not save yourself the trouble and try the natural options first?

Did you ever try anything like cutting dairy products or wheat out of your diet?

In the literature about oil pulling, (look it up), many people mentioned it cured their sinus problems. Just one example of a possible approach, I'd try everything if I were you, there's no silver bullet.

If your problems are caused by your diet, a nutritional deficiency, some toxin in your environment, etc., then surgery isn't going to fix it, I don't think?

I am not a doctor and none of the above is meant as medical advice.

Unused to get a bad sinus infection every year- or twice

Antibiotics must be taken for 6 weeks my doc said because the sinuses are EMPTY space and not easy to kill bugs with bloodstream meds

For the last decade I have prevented them

When ai get stuffy I use Dr Neilmeds sinus rinse bottle with a salt packet it comes with and a capful of peroxide - in shower every day. The first time I did this for 7 days

After 5 days hunks of crap came out that must have been In There for YEARS! Lik pieces of hard rubber!

Now that the crap is out - I rinse for a few days when stuffy and not more sinus - no more pills either!

19 years without a sinus Infection !

And they said I had a deviated septum and I could get surgery (slash for cash) - most infections worse in one side and the headaches and infection made me sleepy and tired all the time.

Cost $10 to try it! Committ to at least a week - the hardened stuff takes a while to get out.

I've had sinus polyp surgery twice, I'll probably need it at least once more before I die.

Definitely worth it for me.

The second time I had approximately 30 polyps removed and it took about a year before I felt healed up. I get nose bleeds much easier now.

Chop up finely and eat at least three cloves of raw garlic a day and you won't have sinus issues anymore. Be sure to let the chopped garlic sit for a minimum of 5 minutes before consuming so that the allicin forms tho. Never cook it either. RAW GARLIC ONLY.

I had surgery for a deviated septum. It made the problem worse. The surgery was botched and I now have empty nose syndrome. Not enough tissue in my nose, makes for a wind tunnel. Air is rushing in and its too much and its abrasive. It feels like a constant pinching with plyers.
Think long and hard about this. The Neil Med has helped greatly with sinus infections..Now I just get "cement" mucous building up. I have not found a way around that.

Longtime sinus sufferer here also.

Have you ever tried irrigation with slightly salty warm water?

I was in such bad shape that it took some time, repeated irrigations, but I do ok now.
My upper left sinus which is the worst, will take an ounce of water.
I lie back on a bed, hang my head off the side so that its upside down and tilted to the side, using a syringe, fill the
sinus up and kinda shake my head around.

Its extreme and in the beginning felt like drowning, but I got used to it and better at doing it.

The medical fad back then was to insert some small radioactive things into the sinuses.

This is very similar to my experience and results.

The surgery that OP is contemplating, I wonder if it is just to clean the hunks of crap out?
Pretty extreme measures if that is the reason for it.

Why not try everything else first?

stop eating all grains, fruits, sugars, dairy....

Eat saturated fats, eggs, red meat

Butter, stop eating any vegetable oils

Rinse nasal passages with salt water-- (sea salt and warm water, can sniff it in with a spoon) pinch of salt in 1/4 cup water-- recipes on line

check to make sure home is free of allergens-- like dust, mold....

Things can go wrong with surgery, and it is expensive.

All the above are inexpensive and safe-- no harm in trying.

Had the surgery [sinus "honing"] and it helped.... just don't expect it to be a miracle! If you have a good surgeom, expect the surgery will help your condition somewhat, yet won't totally alleviate your symptoms.

To better alleviate your symptoms after surgery, try "Netti-pot" self treatment with warm saline solution plus perhaps a little yet significant change in diet.

hesright

And has your Dr. tested for everything in your sinuses? Including parasites and fungus? If not, you should get a 2nd opinion.

Also, a Dr. of Oriental Medicine and acupuncture would probably do a better job with diagnosis and treatment.

coworker had a sinuplasty done he swears by it. He had suffered for many years with sinus infections. He said it was a fairly easy procedure. You just worry to much, if you will benefit its worth it. My sister didn't taker it serious about having sinus issues till the infection ate up the bone around her eye socket.

Re: need advice ...about to consider sinus surgery .
I have sinusitis. Finally found a decent doctor who says surgery is a last resort option. Flonase now can be bought over the counter and there's a generic option too. I use a nasal spray when needed.

Vicks Vapor Rub inside of my nostrils feels much better than irrigating my nose with warm salt water. However if you wish to go that route I recommend the following:

Found a clean small bottle of Joy or whatever you use to hand wash your dishes works better than a netti pot as it's easier to control the flow of liquid by lightly squeezing the plastic bottle.

Problem started when I stopped swimming in the ocean which I really enjoyed as a child. Took me years to realize there was a connection.

I also take allergy pills as fall to winter seasonal changes causes a lot of problems as does smog and pollution. I've tried to avoid living in a home with rugs as they trap dust and particularly mold. I've even had issues with breathing.

I already have a far, far better diet than the average person. I've found that eating spicy food when my delicate stomach can handle it really helps clear my sinuses as well as drinking a lot of herb tea.

Most painful surgery I ever had. You'll have a constant nosebleed for a couple of weeks. Then wait until the ENT removes the packing from your sinuses. It's like having your brains removed through your nose. After I healed, it was nice being able to breathe through my nose without any blockage. However, about 10 years postop, I'm back to where I was before the surgery. It isn't worth it. Irrigate often with saline solution. I also found a little horseradish (wasabi) or chinese hot mustard opens up the nasal passages right away.
You are born with the truth, then taught a lie.

He is right, you know?

I so regret getting my tonsils out. It used to be common practice when I was growing up.

The only thing that would help is cutting the adenoids off, and they regrow. So unless you cannot breath, I say do not do it. Plus it hurts like hell for at least 2 weeks.

And totally unnecessary.
